week 3 term 2 wednesday 9 may 2012 www.isleworth.school.nz the values focus this term is kia ora koutou responsibility what s happening 2012 11 may 11 may 17 may school cross country book offer 3 closes new entrant open morning 18 may school disco 22 may zones cross country 1 june pta sausage sizzle 12 june pta meeting 12/13 jun 3 way conferences 29 june mufti day 29 jun term 3 ends it is nice to see the junior playground and lunch area completed and the children are certainly enjoying using it this project was funded by the ministry of education through the property rationalisation funding scheme this allows schools to apply for funding to remove surplus buildings of facilities and to restore the area luckily this was applied for before the earthquakes as there is now a hold on all spending on property in christchurch we had also applied to this fund for money to replace our hall with a more modern structure however any decision on that will now be several years away in the meantime the board has been saving money towards either replacing with the help of ministry money as described above or upgrading the hall the money raised by the pta at the school fair has been set aside for this project last week i visited schools in otago it is always stimulating to visit other schools and to glean ideas but also reassuring to know that we have a well equipped school with great teachers providing a high quality education for our children however i do have to mention the brand new school at wanaka it consists of 6 separate buildings known as pods and a huge administration block the exterior is stained wood and schist stone and all the buildings open onto a central cobblestoned courtyard each pod has 4 classrooms surrounding an inner area where there is a huge teacher workroom a central assembly space containing a mat area and bench sink microwave and oven the classrooms all have ranch sliders out to the courtyard areas and the views are to die for i have school envy .l oohcs ht r o w el si taem it l uf rednowaevahuoyepohew 3 1 moor ot n o st awenaj anna e m o cl ewew important notice please check your child has his/her own clothing on a number of named items have gone missing and the office has a number of unnamed items in the lost property basket catch the latest news on our news blog principal www.isleworthschoolnews.blogspot.com follow us on facebook www.facebook.com/pages/isleworth-school follow us on twitter text isleworthschool to 8987
