bryanston high school high times newsletter 4 of 2012 5 may www.bryanston.com dear parents reports have been handed out and collections were fantastic the management of the school likes parents to collect reports from the school as it ensures that they do read the results and are fully aware of the progress of their children the grade controllers also enjoy meeting and greeting all the parents parents evening was held on wednesday night and the teachers were very disappointed at the poor attendance of parents it was a cold evening however all teachers were present and we were hoping for constructive engagement with parents of students who have problems and the good students where we can give positive feedback secondly students do not work hard enough i have found over the years that the successful students come from structured families who instill a positive work-ethic learning a very important lesson of time management and to develop a study system from that i believe one of the reasons that parents evening was not well attended is because grade controllers are on top of all issues and are consistently meeting parents or corresponding with them on various issues all teachers were encouraged by the student participation in the extra mural programme we are fielding lots of teams which many of our local schools can t match and our results have been encouraging the girls first hockey team are having a fantastic season and all the hockey and netball teams are showing encouraging results our rugby results are mixed mainly because we seem to be out-powered by bigger boys however with regards to skills and motivation we are doing very well i hope that everyone had a good long weekend and we look forward to a busy month of may the highlights will be the production of grease and the debs squires ball academic success is not necessarily a result of high some of the frustrations we intelligence but more due to face especially with students hard work application and who are battling is based on determination two fundamental issues the first issue is that students do please may i appeal to parents not read enough as they live in to create a constructive home environment where there is a a very visual world balance between family time and work as a result their entertainment understanding and use of children whether they like it words is limited and this not thrive on the routine of affects the science subjects order and predictability in fact as well as humanities it boils down to each student open-water swimming participation certificates shannon bell stefan de beer amber kayser kyle langford jessica oswald dylan wingrove public speaking certificates amy thomson naadhirah dudhia gabriella borges tumelo mashabathkga candice lorton abigail musida chenai marware momentious mthethwa blessing letsaolo kagiso siphuma rosina kaseka neo lamola jason lance kamogelo khatle vyasna mahadevey nomvuselelo ngubane martinique koster dumsile tiyo steven donzella jocelyn lawrence tsz-yin chen tamara mushani jordynne peach liso yanta d robinson the rugby boys recently returned from a successful tour to italy and france to read about their tour please visit the school website www.bryanston.com
