· official greeting ladies and gentlemen we are glad to welcome all the participants of the 11th azerbaijani international travel and tourism fair today we can say with complete confidence that azerbaijan has managed to take a strong position in the world tourism industry since 2011 more and more major international organizations are each year increasing their interest in our country this is seen clearly in the numerous international events organized successfully in our capital and other regions by tourism agencies from turkey russia germany the united states and other cis oic and eu member countries these achievements have been made possible thanks to president ilham aliyev s attention to the tourism industry and his efforts to make this sector a priority for development his commitment has furthered the successful implementation of the national state program on tourism development and the state program on regional social-economic development for the years of 2009-2013 these programs helped to attract leading investment companies from across the world and developed entrepreneurship thanks to the lending policies that have assisted private firms in the tourism industry build high-class tourist facilities as a unwto member since 2001 azerbaijan has participated in numerous events held by this competent international organization these events have in turn helped the ministry of culture and tourism and leading tourist agencies to expand their business contacts with specific worldwide organizations and increased the flow of tourists into the country our country s participation in world tourism exhibitions fairs international conferences and festivals has played a major role in promoting our tourism potential abroad obviously the aitf plays a significant role in creating an attractive tourism image of azerbaijan in certain ways this contributes to developing various types of tourism and also activates small and medium entrepreneurship in the sector by bringing together many representatives of the global tourism industry these exhibitions and fairs demonstrate the achievements of the modern tourism infrastructure in azerbaijan by attracting a wide range of experts who are seeking to enhance their professional relations and by providing them with the opportunities to exchange experiences and take part in joint projects the fair creates a media space for advertising and commercial activities all these increase its influence as a tourism event throughout the caucasus region while at the same time attracting the interests of foreign investors and tourist business representatives to our country i wish every success to the participants of this event for the development of friendly ties and the establishment of new business contacts to jointly develop projects in the future abulfas garayev minister of culture and tourism of the republic of azerbaijan 12-14 april 2012-baku azerbaijan 7
