during production all ictp systems will be adjusted according to this new standard manufactured after march 2012 preamble this guide is applicable for the following ictp systems platewriter 2500 platewriter 3000 newswriter newswriter xl since the release of the 3rd generation of platewriters we have constantly improved the design and adjustments of the imaging unit to ensure better performance this is to sum up on all the changes and to enable the technical staff can perform the updates and reach the level of quality that is expected by the customers the total list of checks and adjustments are print bed angle and height adjusted to best plate travel and thus better printing 1 · 1 2.37 adjusting the front registration systemnot xl capping level at cleaning and filling cycles 1 head tilt slant pf optimized to head capping 1 · 2 2.41 initial adjustment of the head height for optimal quality printing · 3 2.43 print head slant pf tilt adjustment adjusted to best result in vertical lines print test job · 4 2.45 print head slant cr bias adjustment for best alignment of nozzle row print test job · 5 2.47 bidir manual adjustment for high speed printing · 6 print bed feed table temperatures adjusted to maximum plate flatness for better printing · 7 2.50 adjustment of the printer feed misc mechanical modifications for safer plate transport and setting in imagine unit 1 print jetqa sample for best siemens star and homogenous distribution of nozzles 1 1 note these items are not needed to adjust or test on systems manufactured after march 2012 note prior to the adjustments both side plats of the imagine unit must be removed remember to switch power off and un-plug the mains cable before removing the control panel hit the power button again to drain any remaining voltage from the power supply 1 2.37 front registration check at this point the front registration should be tested if the print bed height or angle has been altered see the hardware installation manual 51649_bc_nolabel_im.pdf for details appendix a

if the registration is not good and needs to be adjusted the print bed height and angle must once again be checked 2 2.41 initial head height setting ensure the finisher unit is switched off and the printer bed and entry table are cold the imaging unit must also be off release the head the head is parked and capped on the left hand side of the imagine unit check again that power on the imagine unit is off and turn the gear wheel slide the carriage to the right insert a 0,15mm 6 gauge plate to the feed roller nip and turn the feed shaft of the printer by hand slide a 0,6mm feeler gauge under the head

turn the white head height knob to the narrow position and check that the head frame barely touches the feeler gauge if the head height is not correct it can be altered here finally load a plate by hand and see that the plate is transported flat and stays in contact with the print bed at all times turn the feed roller using a 0,15mm 6gauge plate and then turn the feed roller using a 0,30mm 12gauge plate notice the front plate edge sliding against the angled part of the print bed and lifted into place this ensures a firm and close contact to the print bed during printing 3 2.43 head tilt checked by test jobs and 4 2.45 head bias see the hardware installation manual 51649_bc_nolabel_im.pdf for details appendix b 5 2.47 bi-directional printing see the hardware installation manual 51649_bc_nolabel_im.pdf for details appendix c 6 print bed and entry table temperature set points after performing the above mentioned checks and adjustments it is now time to power on the finishing unit the temperature must be stable and the green light at the register system must be off not flashing indicating that the temperature has reached the set points at the print bed and entry table the default set temperatures are 48 at the entry table uft and 42 at the print bed dhs once stable and in operating mode the plate must be fed in such a way the edge of the plate is constantly in contact and level with the print bed the must be tested both with a 0,15mm 6 gauge and 0,3mm 12 gauge plate if both thickness are used.

if the plate edges at one or both sides are not level with the print bed the temperature should be lowered on the print bed dsh 1-3 degrees allow the temperature to stabilize before testing for smooth loading again repeat until satisfactory leveling of the plate is as achieved for all used plate gauges alternatively the exit side of the print bed can be raised to obtain plate transporting more closely to the bed 7 2.50 feed adjustment see the hardware installation manual 51649_bc_nolabel_im.pdf for details appendix d print test using jetqa job the adjustment wizard the in g&j tools in the c drive of the rip can set a special quality test job that will inform if the nozzles are jetting boot the free raw print program and open the pw3000jetqahhstd.prn job load a plate and print the job the following can be determined from this job nozzle alignment the four blocks at y2 pk3 pk6 and y7 will indicate the accuracy of the nozzles the lines must be distributed evenly as this picture shows bias and tilt check the siemens star will indicate if the alignment of the bias and tilt are good the vertical line must be perfect straight and without any ripples magnified 10 x using the illuminated magnifier p/n 29473 notes:
