april 5th 2012 term 1 week 11 bo am bee phone 6653 1107 e-mail boambee-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au dear parents and caregivers positive behaviour for learning pbl celebration assembly what a wonderful way to end a very busy term 1 yesterday s celebration assembly was a demonstration of the quality teaching and learning at boambee school the whole school focus and introduction of the pbl framework to build a culture of highly engaged positive students was evident not only throughout the assembly but all during the day in class and sport activities term 1 has been an introduction of the school s core values and rules by which students and staff operates doing our boambee best is a catchy way of remembering the core values and can be used in all settings within a school day our symbol the boam bee is a perfect link from nature that demonstrates what we are trying to achieve bees are amazing insects that survive as a species by doing their best bees are resilient by nature ­ travelling thousands of kilometres in order to produce a relatively small amount of honey bees engage in their work diligently to make the perfect product bees show respect to each member of the hive with up to 60 000 bees living together they depend on good communication and cooperation bees think about being safe and certainly act in a sustainable manner honey bees have been around for 30 million years each student was given a wrist band as part of the celebration and to help them remember to aim for their boambee best these can be worn every day congratulations everyone on a fantastic day i am very proud to be a member of this school community bu lleti n fax 6658 2543 bps online www.boambee-p.schools.nsw.edu.au `achievement through effort a proud member of the bongil bongil community of schools celebration of learning assembly students performing the boambee best rap thank you to the parents who attended the assembly it was wonderful to have your support do your boambee be resilient engage in learning show respect think safety and sustainability the performance by the recorder and xylophone group was terrific please note you can make payments to the office using our new eftpos facility.

2 term 2 calendar bulletin a term 2 calendar is attached the calendar can also be found on the school s website www.boambee-p.schools.nsw.edu.au anzac day march students are invited to march in the anzac parade at sawtell on april 25th this year the schools have decided to march together as the bongil bongil learning community students are asked to meet at 10.15am behind the sawtell ex services club mrs bale and mrs puddey will coordinated students on the day thank you to terri and the canteen volunteers for cooking the bbq and preparing the serving areas we appreciate all the extras you do for the students and staff in the school new classroom this week the new classroom arrived for year 1 it is anticipated that installation will be completed during the holidays and ready for 1ls to move in during the first week of term kindergarten were fascinated by the crane today a big crane came to school and put a classroom on the bricks kg tabloid sports were enjoyed during the afternoon coffs harbour high school year 7 enrichment days 2013 coffs harbour high school is now accepting applications for positions in its year 7 enrichment class for 2013 if you would like to apply we have application forms in our office or contact coffs harbour high school 66523466 ask for mrs bryant for more information applications close friday may 25th 2012 rd term 2 no students monday 23 april staff development day tuesday 24th april all students return to school school s anzac day service 12:30pm wednesday 25 april anzac day public holiday bee craft all classes anzac day march meet at sawtell rsl club at 3p foot painting to make bees 10.15am bongil bongil community of schools th students engaged in science and craft lessons to learn more about bees during the school s pbl celebration.

3 easter craft 2/3m made easter baskets bulletin anzac day school assembly anzac day is held on the 25th of april every year and is a national public holiday the service is a sobering reminder of the sacrifices made by service-men and women in protecting our country and preserving our way of life boambee public school will be holding its service on the first day back at school of term 2 tuesday 24th april 12:30pm ted gillies will be our guest of honour and we have also secured the services of toormina high-school s brenton knight to play the first and last post on the bugle the service will be hosted by the school s captains and prefects parents and community members are welcome to attend students are to remain at school as normal classes will recommence following the service anzac day parade each year schools are invited to march as part of the anzac day service at sawtell this year the local schools have decided to combine and march together as the bongil bongil learning community students will march beside students from other schools to showcase the connectedness between schools in our local community students are asked to meet teachers at 10.15am behind the sawtell exservices club mrs bale and mrs puddey will coordinate students on the day we encourage as many parents and children to attend this special community day sustainability competition all classes were challenged to find as many words as they could using the letters in the word sustainability what an amazing response from our students the winning class was 5/6 h with 255 words in second place was 5/6n with 196 words and a highly commended effort from kg with27 words well done everyone our senior students excelled with their selection of words including anility source of indigo dye native to caribbean latin name indigofera suffruticosa sibyls a woman of ancient greece and rome believed to be an oracle or a prophet 5/6h were presented with a solar powered remote control car 5/6n with a model eco house and kg with a wind powered bicycle kit kinder easter craft was lots of fun we practised our cutting and gluing to make fabulous easter bunnies and baskets sport news north coast rugby league trials congratulations to josh fitzpatrick and darby sherrin who were selected in the north coast rugby league squad this week rugby union trials congratulations to jonah mcnellee brodie gray david thomson daniel glover and angus dam who were successful in being selected for the north coast rugby union squad this week well done boys proud winners of the sustainability competition.
