hunting and fishing cont bow the survivors mindset the bow and arrow can be used in any situation bow hunting or fishing you can make this by carving up dry branches with the ends being thinner than the middle but big enough to tie braided bark or any type of cord found then use more branches to make the arrows they should be as straight as possible with a fine point what your stress can cause difficulty making decisions angry outbursts forgetfulness low energy level constant worrying propensity for mistakes thoughts about death or suicide trouble getting along with others withdrawing from others hiding from responsibilities carelessness fish poisons another method of fishing is the use of fish poisons if dealing with a small closed off body of water the use of large quantities of this plant which is found in tropical areas will kill many of the fish once the fish have died they will float to the top and allow easy collection of the fish note the bean shaped seeds are the poisonous part of this plant page 4

hunting and fishing snares survivor mindset continued know yourself know your strengths and improve your weaknesses anticipate fear don t believe you are not scared be realistic make choices that you can do and save your life be optimistic learn to be more optimistic and never give up mentally things to use as rope shoe lace bark braided like hair vines wire if involved with crash of a vehicle to make a simple snare tie the end of the rope to a place in the middle make sure the knot is solid and twist rope around its self leave a circle for the trap twist it into a larger and smaller circle then fold the smaller circle inside the larger one note scout for recently used trails for best chance of capturing small game train practice new things so you can improve your skill learn from mistakes the most common feelings you will get are fear anger anxiety depression loneliness and boredom a real life example though a simple situation was of a stranded man who kept wits by playing angry birds id seen stories of how people had basically been able to survive off that and i figured if they could do it so could i heatherly said so he set up a regimented routine and stuck to it he napped for 45 minutes out of each hour in the chevrolet trailblazer setting his cell phone s alarm so that he could wake up to run the heater for 15 minutes -these quotes show how accepting your situation and responding to it properly can mean the difference between survival and death in any situation then idwake up and start it again i played angry birds on the phone to stay lucid he said -this quote shows that keeping mental focus and relax through keeping the same routine at one point late sunday night or monday night i wrote outawill just in case heatherly said those moments passed not quickly but they passed -this quote shows that accepting your fate and being prepared for the worse gives you strength and security page 5 spears while you dont need to make a spear as fancy or proper as one of these a spear needs to have a sharpened point at least inch long if made out of wood the spear should be about your height and never thrown as you cannot not afford to spend the time to mend or recreate a weapon when your survival is at stake when fishing keep point of spear in water and slowly aim toward fish forcefully stab fish into bottom of the water dont lift spear as the fish might fall off hold spear in place and reach down to grab fish off of the spear note because of waters affect on light aim below fish note wood can be fire-hardened for support

how to make a fire shelter when youre are trying to stay alive just the simplest made shelter is the best way to go all you need is moderate size branches for support and smaller size branches for the structure after that you will need large palm tree leaves for roofing and bedding to hold it all together just use any type of cord to tie the branches together you can make the hut any shape to fulfill your needs that the situation presents 1 the first step to making a fire using the bow method is finding the appropriate materials you need wood to make a fire board bow socket and drill 2 the socket is what the drill spins in and what you hold with your hand 3 the bow needs to be flexible and have some sort of cord whether man made or of natural material 4 the drill spins with in the socket and fireboard 5 to start the fire you place the drill in the fireboard and socket in the fireboard by the drill you need fine dry fuel known as tinder 6 the drill should be wrapped around the cord attached to the bow 7 placing one leg on the fireboard and using a sawing motion to spin the drill as you get a steady rhythm you can increase the pressure and speed at which you word the bow 8 eventually the friction will cause enough heat to ignite the tinder 9 once this takes place you can slowly add more dry wood while slowing increasing the size of the fuel you are using.
