genuine but it may be a good idea to plan where you are going to model these strategies during your first few times using this strategy 5 after you have read for about 15 minutes stop reading even if you haven t finished a chapter or even a page story in one sitting it is good for students to adjust to not being able to read an entire however always review what was going on in the story when you left it before when you begin again this reminds students to think about the story has a whole and models overall good reading habits 6 once you stop allow 2-3 minutes for students to finish answering the questions finished reading at the beginning of the year students will often not answer questions until you have however as the year progresses you will find this is a good more and more students writing while you read notes strategy for future classes where students will have to take it also encourages students to think while they read 7 once most students are done answering ask each student to find a partner in the room and share with that partner what they wrote as an answer repeat this at least once but as haring with 3 different s many times as you have time for partners always worked best for my classroom 8 after all students have had a chance to share with someone choose 1 or 2 to share with the class why e i take time to discuss their answers encouraging students to answer the question why does that character remind you of your mom why did you infer that she would need a raincoat today 9 repeat daily ©raki s rad resources 2011 http rakiradresources.wordpress.com
