week 3 term 1 wednesday 15 february 2012 www.isleworth.school.nz the values focus this term is kia ora koutou it is another grey day and like you all i am wondering where summer has gone the dull weather certainly is in contrast to the children s attitude to school they are keen and enthusiastic and have settled back to school routines superbly swimming continues despite the weather and most days the children are keen to swim in the heated pool they even try to persuade their teachers that it is ok to go when it is pouring with rain thank you for continuing to send swimming gear even when the weather is so unpredictable thank you to those of you who came to our meet the teacher sessions please remember that we are always available to discuss any queries concerns you may have at any time teachers are available before and after school unless they are on road patrol duty and i am available most days we only ask that you avoid wednesday afternoons as that is our staff meeting day some safety issues please continue to park away from the gate on isleworth road there are signs prohibiting parking along the front of the school ­ please look out for these the traffic department do come often and they will issue tickets for wrongly parked vehicles at times our staff will politely point out to drivers that they are parked in the wrong place and obstructing their view of the road staff are often upset by the response they receive ­ please remember it is their responsibility to cross children safely across the road and they must have a clear view to do this we do expect all members of our school community to use and role-model for children our value of respect if you are asked to move your car please do this with grace we are considering padlocking the isleworth road gate during the day and possibly the other gates the gate has been left open on one occasion and at other times not closed properly ­ it is an on-going problem that the gates are treated roughly in the weekend/after school period and the self closing mechanism often needs adjusting ­ as you can imagine it is not easy to get the contractors back immediately to fix this we are monitoring this situation and may need to make the decision to lock this gate between 9am and 3pm we know you will understand the need for this and we apologise for any inconvenience which it may cause you to use the farrington avenue office entrance during these times respect what s happening 2012 17 feb 29 feb 9 mar 9 mar 14/16 mar 5 apr 23 apr camp sausage sizzle school swimming sports camp sausage sizzle preliminary reports go home yr 5/6 camp end term 1 term 2 begins catch the latest news on our news blog .l oohcs ht rowel si t a e mi t l uf rednowaevahuoyepohew sr e m er k r e h ct ubnosajdna ell et nahc e m o cl ewew camp fundraiser there will be a sausage sizzle this friday to help raise funds for the yr 5/6 camp to hanmer springs this year please have these orders into the office by thursday 16 february another fundraiser is to have a raffle are you able to help donations are needed please eg chocolates wine pantry items any non perishables would be wonderful principal www.isleworthschoolnews.blogspot.com follow us on facebook www.facebook.com/pages/isleworth-school follow us on twitter text isleworthschool to 8987
