te uku school newsletter 02/12 tena koutou e te whanau o te uku school buses the bus list of the children who use either the water tower bus or raglan west bus has now reached full capacity this means that any new children wanting to use either bus will have to go on a waiting list unless they are in the ministry of education zone and are eligible this also means that we can no longer sell casual tickets to children who are not on the list children are not to swap buses either these measures are being put in place to not only ensure that we comply with the raglan buses official loading capacity but to also help keep bus travelling safe for both the children and driver we really appreciate the way our families generally make prompt or regular automatic payments for bus fees please be aware that if fees are not paid on time or an automatic payment is not set up the child concerned is likely to lose their place on the bus we would like to hear from any families who no longer want to use either bus and/or are willing for their child to be transferred from the water tower bus to the raglan west bus please ring contact tina asap 8255815 or office@teuku.schoolzone.net.nz 9 february 2012 fundraising committee thank you arnika and rachel bidois for meeting with me this morning to talk about the gala and fundraising ideas for 2012 i am so pleased to know that the great work of the last fundraising committee lead so enthusiastically by zella is going to be continued we are really keen for our new families and of course existing families to offer their help so that we can achieve the many projects the bot has in mind the bot will be setting up and running an information centre on the gala day for families to find out more offer their ideas and their help school gala get your thinking caps on guys school gala day is coming up saturday 17 march 2012 what wonderful ideas can you bring to the te uku gala day get in quick contact arnika email accounts@wtcroofing.co.nz phone 8250599 come on parents get your kids involved car park raffle lets make the car park new and safer for all of us we are going to run a big raffle to fundraise for car park improvements the raffle will be drawn at the gala on saturday 17 march tickets are $10.00 to be sent out soon please think about who you might want to sell tickets to if you would like to contribute in any way email office@teuku.schoolzone.net.nz swimming the seniors will be completing their swimming lessons with 2focus this week the juniors start theirs on monday it is great having 2focus back again this year providing lots of expertise i would like to acknowledge the on-going high quality work jenny bruce does in keeping our swimming pool running efficiently jenny makes frequent visits to the school including during the holidays to check cleanliness of the water and to make sure the filter etc are running as well in fact in the holidays jenny got bot approval to get a new filter fitted so that we werent faced with a possible breakdown when school started back thanks jenny for your fantastic work the following are some guidelines for safe use of the pool it is very important that a child who has had diarrhoea does not swim until 24 hours after being symptom fee children with large grazes or deep cuts should not swim until the affected area has scabbed over a child with school sores can swim as long as the sores are covered for your interest the recommended chlorine level for a school pool is 5 this is measured 3 times a day this is not high enough to hurt the eyes and is ideal for a low bacterial count kills most bugs a white cloudy water appearance can happen when there is a higher bather load however it is still safe to swim in car park after school we would like families to wait until after 3:00pm before picking up their children to maximise the safe use of our car park we do understand that sometimes families have to pick up children earlier however it is noticeable when we all make the effort to give the buses priority until 3:00pm.
