not-bob and the haboob by kamryn hancock not-bob was just a simple little scorpion who had a very simple life not to exciting and not to boring he lived in the middle of the sonoran desert along with his best friend bob they were sitting under their favorite rock that provided lots of shade a cool breeze came up and that breeze gradually rose in speed and temperature some dark clouds came into view and drifted slowly over the desert the wind started picking up even more so not-bob and bob went up the hill that they lived on not-bob s soda can house was on the left side of the hill and bob s box house was opposite the two agreed to go into bob s box maybe we can turn on your tv and see if a storm is coming it sure looks like it so bob turned on his little tv that was the size of a cardinal they scrolled through the channels ranging from cartoons to news until they found the weather channel the little weatherman on the screen had said there was going to be high winds and a 90 chance of a haboob after searching what a haboob was on the internet both scorpions were shocked to hear that that huge monster of a dust storm was heading their way the wind started picking up dust not-bob and bob could hear it pelting the side of the box the haboob was materializing more and more dust and debris started hitting the box and not-bob heard his little soda can house roll down the side of the hill the box started moving backward faster and faster until the dust actually picked it up and carried it all the way to cactus fields which is about half a mile away none of them were hurt and bob s house was perfectly fine but what of not-bob s house both went outside after they knew the dust storm was gone everything was covered in a layer of dust and a lot of things had been blown to cactus fields also not-bob could not see his house anywhere they searched the area until one came across a large bottle not-bob and bob pushed the bottle next to bob s house and they returned to their normal lives a week later the wind picked up again and the second haboob started what an annoyance!
