st teresa s rc primary school newsletter february 2012 the newsletter is also available to view on the school website www.stteresasprimary.org.uk half term school breaks up on friday 10th february and the children return to school on monday 20th february 2012 reminder we ask parents not to send their children to school with extreme haircuts e.g sculpting skinheads and patterns we require the support of all parents in this matter dinner money can we remind parents that dinner money must be paid on monday mornings in an envelope clearly marked with your child s name you may be entitled to claim free school meals for your child please see the office for further information if you are in receipt of child tax credit not working tax credit income based job seekers allowance income support etc children in classes 2-9 can choose to have a packed lunch or school meal each day please note if opting for this choice school must be informed on a monday morning which days a school meal is to be taken every school day counts out of the 365 days in a year schools are only open to pupils for 190 days that leaves 175 days when pupils are not in school 175 days for holidays shopping appointments etc the target set for school attendance is 95 190 days in school 100 attendance 180 days in school 10 days lost 95 our attendance currently stands at 93.5 which is below target lack of attendance damages chances of pupils reaching their potential every school day counts winmarleigh 2012 pupils from year 6 are participating in an ict action and adventure residential at winmarleigh hall from 21st ­23rd march please pray for good weather there will be a parents meeting information meeting on monday 20th february at 5.45pm explaining timings needs etc ash wednesday our ash wednesday liturgy will take place in church on wednesday 22nd february at 9.30am you are most welcome to attend and we look forward to your support pancake sale on tuesday 21st february pancake tuesday children have the opportunity to buy a pancake for £1.00 money raised will be sent to st cuthbert s care for their lenten appeal buy a pancake and help those in need advance notice open afternoon monday 12th march 2pm-6pm further details to follow sats week 2012 please note that sats week for year 6 is 14th-22nd may it is crucial that the children are in school during this week no holiday requests please as no holidays will be authorised this term sees the run up to sats we ask that you support your children during the coming months by ensuring that they attend school and complete homework.

family learning fun do you have a child in nursery reception or year 1 do you find yourself wondering how best to support your child following the success of the fun with numbers programme we are now offering parents grandparents and carers the opportunity to attend a three week taster course on fun activities to support learning to find out more come along to school on tuesday 28th february from 9.15-11.15am creche facilities may be available the daily mirror newspaper has launched their we love reading campaign the campaign is a year long initiative intended to introduce children across the country to the benefits and joys that books can bring from saturday 4th february 2012 tokens will be printed in the daily mirror and sunday mirror please help us to collect these tokens for every 2 that are collected we can claim a free book school bank ran on behalf of darlington credit union a savings club operates every monday morning parents and children are very welcome to join you can save as little or as much as you wish withdrawals require 1 week s notice application forms are available from reception please do not bring any animals onto the school yard on tuesday 13th march at 9.30am in church classes 7,8 9 will be celebrating mass this mass will be led by class 8 all parents carers parishioners are invited to attend easter fayre wednesday 28th march from 3.20pm we would be grateful for any donations towards this important fundraising event please bring any new unwanted gifts suitable for a tombola or raffle prizes to the office thank you after school activities monday gymnastics ks2 3.15-4.15pm tuesday class 8 cooking club 3.15-4.15pm £1.00 charge little flowers gardening club 3.30-4.30pm wednesday rhymetime nursery reception 3.30-4pm boys football yr5/6 3.15-4.15pm thursday computer club 3.15-4.15pm yr 6 maths challenge club 3.15-4.15pm invitation only table tennis ks2 3.15-4.15pm £1.00 charge per week friday girls football y5/6 3.15-4.15pm youth club yr5/6 monthly 6-8pm £1.00 charge
