new beginnings our christian motorcycle association s bible study topic for january was entitled new beginnings most are familiar with this biblical account of how jesus when getting out of the boat after calming the storm on the sea of galilee was met by a demon possessed man we re told in luke 8:27 that this man had not worn clothes nor lived in a house in a long time but was living in the tombs when jesus asked his name he replied legion because many demons had gone into him a legion in the roman army consisted of 6000 soldiers which indicates the number of demons in his body jesus commanded in mark 5:8 come out of this man you evil spirit then in mk 5:12 the demons begged jesus send us among the pigs allow us to go into for there was a herd of pigs eating on the hillside even the evil spirits know jesus has dominion over they must obey their master they knew torture is their final judgment jesus gave permission for the demons to go into the pigs which numbered about 2000 the pigs not wanting demons in their bodies rushed down the hillside into the lake and were drowned those attending the pigs ran and told the people in the town what had happened the villagers came and found the man clothed and in his right mind sitting at the feet of jesus and were afraid the people pleaded with jesus to leave the region and as he was getting into the boat the man begged to with him but jesus said go home to your family and tell them how much the lord has done for you and how he has had mercy on you mk 5:19 so the man went and told everyone and they were amazed we too can have a new beginning just as we celebrated jesus birth in december we can have a new birth on january 8th at oil well park god blessed at your chaplain s request over 50 bikes and their riders with his blessing and our acceptance of his love we can begin a new life in him i know i was blessed later that day when a friend that is having medical and employment problems testified that he has turned all his troubles over to our god we all can experience those blessings by trusting in him and each have our own new beginnings ga chaplain jerry mason someone is needed to do the mailing for the newsletter you would need to pick up newsletters label them with pre-printed labels then take to the post office on goodlette this is done once a month please step and help you are not required to attend board meeting talk to a board member today abate of florida gator alley chapter page 5

legislative tallahassee rally is coming upon us this is such a great time to let our state elected officials know we are still here and we do count below is the latest info on what is happening during this years state legislative session stay informed items like these affect all of us hope to see you in tally lynn corr gator alley legislative trustee we can complain that rosebushes have thorns or rejoice that thorn bushes have roses abraham lincoln districts coming into focus new districts for the house senate and the florida congressional delegation passed the house on party-line votes friday all but clearing the way for looming legal battles over whether the plans follow state antigerrymandering standards and federal civil rights laws the maps for the legislature sjr 1176 and congress sb 1174 were approved on twin 80-37 votes sending them to the senate for final vote that is expected to be a formality after that the legislative plan will head to the florida supreme court for its approval while the congressional proposal goes to gov rick scott one or both maps are likely to face challenges under either state or federal laws casinos bill goes out with a whimper for weeks swarms of lobbyists and public-relations people waged a battle in tallahassee about destination resort casinos meanwhile folks at home turned on their tvs and saw ads touting or criticizing the proposed move into a new realm of gambling but after all of that the issue appeared to die friday without house members taking a vote internet sales tax bills begin treks again bills to tax internet companies doing business in florida resumed their treks on thursday as separate measures began to move in the senate the senate finance and tax committee approved the introduction of a proposed committee bill hb 7206 which would set up a mechanism to begin collecting sales tax from out-ofstate online vendors that do not currently pay state sales tax sales tax collections would be returned to taxpayers by way of sales tax holidays or other routes senate rolls out pip plan the senate s attempt to fix the state s no-fault automobile insurance market passed its first hurdle thursday with backers conceding the final product may be much different as the bill proceeds to the floor with traditional combatants voicing concerns but choosing to fight it out later the senate banking and insurance committee by unanimous vote approved a measure sb 1860 that the bill s sponsor said could reduce costs of personal injury protection insurance up to $125 million a year by reducing fraud more closely regulating providers and limiting the kinds of treatment available to victims following a crash internet cafÉ ban moving in house despite arguments that the bill would eliminate jobs and hurt veterans groups a house committee wednesday approved a ban on internet cafes that have popped up across the state in recent years the economic affairs committee voted 12-6 to approve hb 3 which supporters say is needed to eliminate storefront casinos that offer computerized games similar to slot machines the internet café industry contends it offers sweepstakes-style games that are legal page 14 www gatoralley.net
