arts program launching fall 2012 your gifts seton keough has a renowned fine and performing arts program new for the 2012-13 school year seton keough will offer an art program for students who wish to concentrate on the arts fine arts music drama or dance fine arts the seton keough art department offers classes from basic drawing and design to advanced photography ceramics and honors and ap fine arts studio for students who wish to study art in college the art department has two large studios and a drawing room under the english department students may take a class in publication design that prepares and produces the school yearbook the phoenix music the music department at seton keough offers courses for experienced musicians and students with no musical background the performing units include the concert band a cappella and concert choirs and the hand bell choir each year seton keough s band and choirs receive top awards in competition an entire wing of the school is devoted to the music program and over one-third of the student body participates in music new this fall seton keough has added a state-of-the-art piano lab drama the seton keough theatre department offers three productions per year a fall musical a variety show and spring play the theatre department offers the opportunities for students to participate in theatre productions who have a range of interest from acting singing dancing music to lighting and sound production and set design and construction the arts program will allow students to explore a variety of subjects by mixing up to three classes during the same frame students may choose from classes such as acting stage craft set design directing ballet choreography hip hop dance piano conducting videography and graphic design for example for students who wish to focus on theatre during a seven-day cycle they would have two frames of acting two frames of set design and three frames of directing music and art scholarships seton keough offers music choral and art scholarships music scholarships are awarded based on an audition held in early february please contact the music department to set up an appointment the art department offers fine arts scholarships based on a portfolio of material please contact the art department for details dance the seton keough dance troupe offers experienced and novice dancers the chance to work as a group on a number of dances performed throughout the school year at pep rallies theatre productions and the variety show clubs each year seton keough offers clubs based upon student interest the book club environmental club games club student council and it s academic appeal to a wide variety of interests salt serving and leading by teens vincentian youth outreach club and campus ministry provide students with leadership and community service opportunities www.setonkeough.com
