moore strengthening the teaching profession should be a priority of everyone in our society we are the nurturers and guides for the people that will determine the future of our society what we do is life altering and has longlasting effects for years to come media specialists in partnership with teachers administrators parents and guardians and students can help lead the direction of our future many people are in flux about what they think about our current education system as it relates to media and technology we need local school systems to lead the change in perception that technology is extra and not necessarily important to education i need to help by reflecting a positive attitude about the teaching profession media and technology i am privileged to be in a position to have influence on young minds i also have the opportunity to influence what people in the community think about the school and media program i have learned that when my students are happy and reflect positive growth my image and the school s image gets better people are very observant about what i do in the classroom and around the school many people are paying attention to things even when you don t think they are it is important to possess a positive attitude that is reflected to others daily as a classroom teacher i can help the media program by voicing how helpful it is to the success i have with my students i cannot imagine a school without a library i do not want to imagine a library with constant censorship of materials or an outdated collection of print and non-print materials my primary job is teaching and i need to be prepared to do it to the best of my ability this means i need to be organized and prepared for class every day this involves hours of planning and research that benefit the students i teach using technology is a great way to enhance teaching and make it more enjoyable to the students including literature across the curriculum would demonstrate how valuable literacy is to their education implementing technology requires a great deal of thought as to which type of media is appropriate for each lesson i will definitely use the strategies and tools i learned in my media program to be more discerning about the implementation of media and technology i plan to help others by collaborating and sharing my newfound knowledge information power is very appropriately named this is because knowledge is power censored knowledge is not power and i will be diligent about fighting for freedom of information for the students by collaborating with others and the community i can share the value of allowing students to have intellectual freedom i will be supportive of media program initiatives that keep the resources current and user-friendly i am also going to make sure that students see me modeling the use of materials from the media center i stay updated about news
