photo editing activity before after 1 launch fireworks 8 and create a new file with a canvas size of 700 x 700 make sure the magnification is set to 100 2 save the file to your fireworks folder as photo_edit.png 3 save after each step save early save often 4 import the picture hot-air-balloon.jpg from the v drive by doing the following a click the file menu and then select import b using the look in drop down box browse to the web design outbox folder on the v drive c select the hot-air-balloon.jpg image and click open d move the mouse to the upper left corner of the canvas and click 5 remove most of the unwanted picture by doing the following a click the lasso tool b draw around the balloon to create a complete loop c once the selection is complete the line will turn into a black and white moving line d click the select menu and then choose select inverse e press the delete key on the keyboard everything outside the selection should be removed f press the esc key on the keyboard to turn off the selection 6 remove the rest of the unwanted image by doing the following a click the magic wand tool click in an area of the sky still remaining all like pixels will be selected press the delete key on your keyboard to remove the selected part of the image b repeat this for other parts of the image if it selects significant chunks if not press the esc key and move to the next step c click the eraser tool using the properties panel set the size to 15 and the edge to 0.

d use your mouse click and hold left button to erase the parts of the image around the balloon that remain this takes a steady hand to try not to get too close if you make a mistake use the undo feature to reverse the change e finish erasing closer to the balloon by zooming the picture in and changing the size of the eraser you might also want to increase the edge setting to soften the edges as you erase 7 give the picture a background by doing the following a click the rectangle tool from the vector tools section b draw a rectangle approximately 320 x 400 watch the size on the properties panel it does not have to be exact c once the rectangle is drawn change the size to exactly 320 x 400 by using the properties panel if necessary change the x and y settings to 0 d pull down the drop down arrow for the fill color and point to pattern and then select oil paint 2 from the pop out menu e most likely the rectangle is on top your balloon if so use the layers panel to reverse the order of the objects the balloon should be on top and the rectangle on bottom 8 put the finishing touches on by doing the following a click the pointer tool then select the balloon b drag the balloon until it looks centered on your background image c click somewhere on the white canvas area on the properties panel click the fit canvas button 9 export the image into a jpg format by doing the following a click the file menu and click image preview b in the format drop down box choose jpeg c click the export button d verify that the file is being exported to your fireworks folder and contains the name photo_edit.jpg e click export 10 you re finished submit both files to the v drive for grading.
