how i remember my time with björn mental work by rosemarie translation by uwe schmidt björn was born on 23rd october 1978 the baby was 54 cm long his weight was 3.850 g and ­ as can be seen on the picture ­ he already was a very compact edition of a baby at that time in the beginning it was a pleasure for his three older siblings bettina 16 years jens 15 years and lars 8 years to pamper sweet little björn but that behavior changed very fast when björn grew up and developed his own special character in 1971 we moved to our new house in wattenscheid and again sometime later our family was increasing by little florian at the age of four it was about time to send björn to the kindergarden because he started to become insupportable in his behavior due to permanent limitation of free capacity in all kind of german kindergardens the only free place available was one in the catholic kindergarten st barbara bjorn started this kindergarden-career with enthusiasm for a limited time only with ongoing time it became more and more difficult to motivate him every morning to do the same and so we decided to send him to a regular elementary school long before he was bound to do so aged only 5 ½ years he started ­ as a trial run ­ to become a normal schoolboy at the local elementary school grundschule westerfelder straße it was about time to send björn to the kindergarden because he started to become insupportable in his behavior but already after the first week björn decided for himself during breakfast he explained that he would not visit the school any longer because there was absolutely nothing new for him to learn and that his teacher was only telling things he already knew only by using the full commitment of his father it was possible to force him to further visit the school it took only another couple of days for björn to realize that there were still lots of interesting things to learn which he did not know up to then after four years in that school he changed to the junior high school realschule höntrop he finished that school successfully in 1994 with his general certificate of secondary education 10

when his father was going to india for his company in 1994 björn florian and myself also started to discover the new experience of india we lived in a beautiful farmhouse outside the city of new delhi and björn started in the german school to become fit in the english language after one year and with his second certificate of secondary education he changed to the american embassy school which he finished with the international baccalaureate in 1998 after finishing the american school he started to work at the hyatt hotel in new delhi as a trainee back in germany in the beginning of 1999 he continued to work in a hotel in xanten before he started an apprenticeship in the beautiful hotel zur post in austria for many years the family visited this hotel during winter holidays and even today we are proud that björn came out on top of his education and his age group in 2002 consequently he decided to continue this way by studying hotel management we did not like his decision to disappear so far into the world but comparing with other universities offering an equal degree we accepted the advantages of visiting the international college of tourism hotel management in manly it was already in 2003 that björn fell in love with sarah after having finalized his studies in 2005 he received the bachelor of business hospitality and tourism we had the chance to attend the outstanding event of the graduation ceremony above that at this opportunity we also came to know of sarah having experienced conditions and situations in the hotel business björn all at a sudden came up with the idea to continue studying at the macquarie university to receive his master degree in economics and internacional relations he finalized his studies in 2006 what a good opportunity for factset to immediately hire björn what a good decision for björn to work along with factset he still likes his job and he still loves sarah finally and after a long time of tests and doubts these two straight forward minded people decided to say yes to a life together let us see what the future has to offer for them we congratulate and hope for unlimited happiness and luck for both of you and we are looking forward for a further deep and ever lasting relationship despite the long geographical distance between us all the best to you 11
