nd colleges for schools a tours ere at galloway we have experienced fullytrained staff who can offer helpful advice to ensure your school or college has the best possible tour.you will have your own personal tour administrator who will handle your tour from initial enquiry through to completion h drivers guides our school group drivers are licenced crb checked and well trained and chosen for their suitability it takes years to get to know the complexities of a tour and destination and galloway drivers are the best in fact other school travel companies frequently request galloway coaches and drivers for their tours as well as being knowledgeable and experienced about the destinations you will visit they are extremely competent drivers and will have received additional training in areas such as customer service drivers hours regulations and problem resolution occasionally when demand is excessive we may have to contract a vehicle and driver from another carefully selected coach operator and we will ensure that their drivers meet our high standards most of our itineraries are designed to work well without the need for a guide as we provide study materials to supplement the driver s knowledge however if you do prefer to have a guide accompany your group this can be arranged supplements for guides on request galloway coach fleet galloway is probably unique in that we operate our own fleet of coaches and drivers on the majority of our school trips this means that you can have confidence that your tour will receive the highest standards of comfort and safety all of our excursion coaches are equipped with seatbelts and are fitted with air suspension p.a system radio cassette and forced air ventilation some are also equipped with extra facilities such as toilet air-conditioning and drinks facilities see important information on page 33 accommodation galloway have carefully selected a range of hotels hostels and youth centres we have worked with many for a number of years which have been chosen for their suitability for school groups many have additional recreational facilities for use by our groups some popular accommodation particularly at certain times of the year can be in great demand and although we can normally find a suitable alternative we strongly recommend making an early booking to avoid disappointment we carry out regular checks of accommodation to ensure they continue to provide the level of standard and service required and that they meet the guidelines issued by the dcsf channel crossings our tours are based upon using the short channel crossings from dover to calais with p&o ferries and sea france or the eurotunnel service from folkestone for visits to normandy and brittany we can provide quotations on the brittany ferries services into caen and cherbourg and for groups located in the north of england there are p&o ferries services available from hull into either zeebrugge or rotterdam visits visits have been carefully assessed for safety according to the standard outlined below and all those included in this brochure are considered to be category 1 unless otherwise stated category 1 visits include locations attractions buildings or sites which are regularly open to visitors where there is a low inherent risk any risks are considered to be associated with normal group management the responsibility of the group leader and the group are primarily involved with looking rather than doing in a reasonably controlled environment category 2 or higher are visits where there is considered to be additional risk which will need to be considered risk assessments for these are available for inspection flights our air tours are based upon available flights from the nearest appropriate uk departure airport days and times of services operated by airlines may affect the structure of the tour and because prices can fluctuate it may not be possible to confirm exact prices until you have paid your deposit 4 www.gallowayschools.com
