curry is a famous dish throughout the world however there are so many ways of making it some examples include chicken tikka masala lamb rogan josh and chicken rogan josh in fact it is the most popular takeaway dish england beating big names like dominoes kfc and macdonald s most curries are very hot and spicy though many are still tasty and mild most flavour in curry comes from spices.

spices are a very sacred ingredient in india they use it in most food they give food a rich flavour and might have a kick to it without spices indian food would not be so tasty and not so many people would like it there are lots of different types of spices each one of them with a unique flavour.

ginger a common spice that a lot of people and countries use in england you would get ginger beer and ginger biscuits they grow on the part of a ginger plant called a rhizome and young ginger rhizomes are juicy as well as fleshy with a mild taste it can be used in quite a few different ways too for example some people use it as a preservative something to stop food going out of date others dry it to make dry ginger another common kitchen spice furthermore when cooked it can produce a hot fragrant kitchen spice which can be pleasant ginger is used all over the world so it isn t surprising that other countries have come up with good uses for ginger in france they use it for a ginger flavoured liqueur called canton also in korea they create a scrumptious dish named kimchi meanwhile on the other side of the world in the caribbean at christmas they use ginger to create a drink called sorrel on the other hand near australia in the philippines they make it in to a tea the one you drink and call it in salabat.

saffron comes from a plant that flowers in the autumn only in addition to that the bulb lasts only for one season too and the bulb is called a corm the saffron has a very nice taste as well but too much of this delicious spice would be poisonous for you also the plant buds 5-11 leaves and the leaves is what carries the spice however the plant will only produce 30 milligrams 3g saffron which means that you would have to have 333 plants to have a total of 1kg of saffron which is not much to grow well and be at its best it would have to be given a lot of sun for they love the sunlight they thrive in the mediterranean for this same reason and a lot are planted in the northern hemisphere during the month of june.

it has been being used for ages over 4000 years to be exact because it was being used since 2000bc in egypt it was also famously used at nero s wife s funeral as well nero burnt a whole years supply of cinnamon they come in sticks of cinnamon in different shapes and sizes the most common size being 5­ 10cm on a plant you should get dozens of shoot or sticks and you get a lot more cinnamon on a cinnamon plant then you get saffron on a saffron plant a lot of the cinnamon produce comes from kerala they also produce quite a bit in sri lanka and it is said to taste very different from sri lanka.

nutmeg is the seed of a tree and it measures 23cms and is grown in the rural town of kerala the nuts in nutmeg will last forever and never go out of date yet the powder only lasts for a month before it is not good to eat and goes out of date like ginger this is a spice used all over the world and a lot of countries have been creative with it and made their own things for example the japanese use it in a lovely curry powder and use it to make their own curry in the middle east they use it in loads and loads of savoury dishes also in the netherlands it is used to flavour vegetables from their boring flavours finally they use it to make a rum punch in the caribbean.

kerala is a peaceful town in india in the countryside kerala produces a lot of spices and the main ones are cardamom pepper cinnamon ginger vanilla and nutmeg there are a lot more but those are the main six spices produced by kerala being a rural area is great for these spices to grow clear fresh air sun rain this is just one of many different rural areas where spice growing thrives.
