dear friends satan and the powers of darkness did not want men to have the light of god s word leading up to the period commonly called the reformation which in truth was a mighty sweeping of holy spirit salvation and deliverance from religious bondage the harlot church murderously raged against anyone standing on studying in and satisfied by the word of god one such man who stood was thomas hawkes he was arrested for refusing to have his child christened by romanish priests refusal to hear the mass in latin and for reading and studying the bible for himself thomas hawkes along with thomas watts was condemned and sentenced to die hawkes friends knew they too would soon be arrested they asked hawkes to give them a sign that he was still at peace when the torturous fires of the stake began to consume him his friends simply asked hawkes at the point of death to raise his hands toward heaven as a sign of god s peace in the pain of persecution now bound to the stake the flames searing his voice away skin scorched and his fingers burned off his friends thought hawkes was dead but no suddenly thomas hawkes raised his fiery hands skyward and clapped them three times as his spirit winged its flight to the father s arms his friends broke into praise and applause at this sign of victory hell s host did not want people to have the bible and so it is today the powers of darkness launch the fiery darts of confusion and corruption with a barrage of modern versions produced by men and money to the peril of multitudes publishing houses continue to crank out new revisions hoping to finally discover god s word at least to some scholars estimation brother ronnie if you take this stand on the text issue and the king james bible you will not be invited to preach and the voice in the wilderness will lose support that was the warning about two years ago by a dear preacher friend he was not only being very candid with me but prophetic he was not referring to rejection by liberal or heretical men but rejection by pastors who basically hold to the king james bible but for a number of reasons would not draw the line and take a definitive stand preacher continued on page 7 for more resources visit www.thevoiceinthewilderness.org ·3

news bits from here and there multiplying bailouts and stimulus plans as far as the eye can see folks running the show seem hardly interested in what the rest of us think of their plans angelo codevilla s american spectator article america s ruling class and the perils of revolution states always in america as elsewhere some people have been wealthier and more powerful than others but until our own time america s upper crust was a mixture of people who had gained prominence in a variety of ways who drew their money and status from different sources and were not predictably of one mind on any given matter the boston brahmins the new york financiers the land barons of california texas and florida the industrialists of pittsburgh the southern aristocracy and the hardscrabble politicians who made it big in chicago or memphis had little contact with one another few had much contact with government and bureaucrat was a dirty word for all so was social engineering nor had the schools and universities that formed yesterday s upper crust imposed a single orthodoxy tarp and obamacare debt about the origins of man about american history and about how america should be governed all that has changed codevilla continues discussing such changes as education where marxists took over the english departments and the elementary school curriculum became crowded with political propaganda and sexed outrages while the republic stood the american elite is more uniform than ever before and also more different from the rest of america codevilla points out even during the civil war lincoln could say truly that both sides prayed to the same god that s not necessarily the case now when the elites despise the enthusiastic christianity of the heartland another big change codevilla notes is in the ruling class s relationship to government which is now so spider-webbed throughout our society that it s hard to make good in american without becoming both a recipient and a dispenser of government largesse and planning in one capacity or another -taken from article and rightly so elizabeth kantor ecumenical edinburgh con 4·the voice in the wilderness november 2010 virtual edition

ference dr ralph colas executive secretary of american council of christian churches reported on the edinburgh 2010 mission conference he stated that some have described this as the most important religious meeting of 2010 others went so far as to consider edinburgh 2010 to be the greatest mission conference since that first one 1920 that conference a century earlier limited the participants to men from mainline protestant church bodies however edinburgh 2010 invited men and women from a broad spectrum of church bodies including orthodox roman catholic pentecostal seventh day adventist protestant and evangelical colas continued his report with opening statements from cardinal keith patrick o brien saying there is only one of me here and there were none of me here in 1920 there were no roman catholics at all present then and the very thought of a roman catholic cardinal being invited to speak at the opening service would have been unthinkable our group here today of 20 delegates represents catholics from literally all over the world using visual aids he held up a small compass a gift that had been given by the scottish church and inscribed with these words may this compass point us on our way ahead and may the cardinal points on the compass help us on our journey he then held up a set of rosary beads and told everyone these are a pre-reformation sign of prayer which unites us all whatever the form of prayer we use day by day as members of our christian churches the cardinal concluded by telling everyone there are increasing positive signs in what we christians can and do together in witnessing for christ today here in scotland all of the mainstream christian churches meet as members of `action of churches together in scotland acts we also have an interfaith outreach that show our concern for people whatever their denomination or whatever world faith they belong to the greeting from pope benedict xvi was then read in which this roman catholic leader acknowledged that the first edinburgh conference gave birth to the modern ecumenical movement he added may we all renew our commitment to work humbly and patiently under the guidance of the holy spirit to live again together with our common apostolic heritage dr colas sums up his report with the following observations chaplains were on call one was a jesuit priest the second a woman of the scottish episcopal church and the third was an evangelical for more resources visit www.thevoiceinthewilderness.org ·5

pastor from the mountain fire and miracle ministry in edinburgh unity is more important than truth according to this conference george barna in his book marketing the church advises us to remember that it is critical that we keep in mind a fundamental principle of christian communication the audience not the message is sovereign that erroneous precept was propagated in edinburgh no reference to the need of a wall between those who promote the social gospel liberation theology and a slogan that the church follows the world s agenda dr colas concluded his observation by stating while mission was seated in the first chair in this ecumenical orchestra missions as biblebelieving fundamentalists define it reaching the lost with the gospel which transforms lives by making them a new creature ii cor 5:17 followed by teaching them to observe all things matt 28:20 was given little place at all the bible clearly requires us to try the spirits whether they be of god because many false prophets are gone out into the world i john 4:1 mnesty to 20 million will barack obama try to grant amnesty to 20 million illegal aliens remember that obama s justice department announced it would file a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of arizona s tough new immigration law obama s secretary of labor hilda solis released a televised public service announcement in which she actually says every worker in america has a right to be paid fairly whether documented or not eight u.s senators wrote to the white house to complain that the obama administration is considering an extension of deferred action or parole to millions of illegal aliens which would give them the ability to seek a work permit and temporary legal status in our country in effect a measure like this would be amnesty by presidential order via judicial watch a · itiseasytotakelibertyforgranted, whenyouhaveneverhadittaken fromyou · itseemslikealotofyoungpeoplewantanoccupationthatdoesn tkeep themoccupied · evenifyou reontherighttrack, you llgetrunoverifyoujustsitthere · thereisaroadfromtheeyetoheartthatdoesnotgothroughtheintellect 6·the voice in the wilderness november 2010 virtual edition
