the bottom we have the 970a-g45 which should be one of the more basic am3 boards from msi with the 900series chipset as the name gives away this board sports the amd 970 northbridge and the sb950 southbridge the board has two pci express x16 slots although as far as we re aware the 970 chipset doesn t support split pci express lanes so we d guess the second x16 slot only has four lanes worth of bandwidth there are also two pci express x1 slots and two pci slots as with the sb850 the sb950 supports six sata 6gbps ports and various raid modes around the back we re apparently looking at six usb 2.0 ports two usb 3.0 ports gigabit ethernet and 7.1-channel audio but that s all we know so far internal connectors are meant to add two more usb 3.0 ports and another six usb 3.0 ports sadly we don t have any pictures of any of the boards so we can only go with what s been listed by the price comparison site cost wise the 970a-g45 is listed at 82.10 s$159 in germany next up we have the spartan z68 we ve seen to date in fact we have a feeling we won t see another z68 board that has so few features from anyone else that said we re hopefully looking at a really affordable z68 board and it should be more than adequate for most users on a brighter note biostar has at least added a trio of display connectors around the back which consists of an hdmi dvi and vga port the only other header on the board one of the more disappointing features or lack thereof is the fact that biostar has only fitted a single 4-pin pwm fan header and it s for the cpu fan and even so there are only two other fan headers on the board which seem stingy the power regulation circuitry is also very basic which what appears to be a 4+1phase design in as much as this is good enough it doesn t inspire a
