4 description of the concept for booth presentation we would like to show for art moscow 2010 the recent works of adriana duque jorge mayet yuko murata and joana vasconcelos adriana duque artist adriana duque practices a photographic mannerism in which she explores staged social landscape realities her photographic pictures are misenscenes of her own inspiration in which the common denominators are the encounters and contrasts between high western culture and its myths with the spatial and social dystopia of her own country the photographic images of her work allude to painting theatre literature and the cinema the silence in painting the light in cinema the immediateness of theatre and the superficiality of advertisement images can be perceived through these images they are fictitious performances staged for the camera and subsequently constructed in the computer that result in a claustrophobic and hermetic world of illusion and wonderment girbent it may well be that the mystery inherent in all beings and things and the mystery inherent in all images is one and the same i see photography as a vehicle to an understanding if only partially of our vertiginous universe as a door a threshold to an enigmatic and infinitely rich parallel world our own world it has been long since i gave up the pursuit of constant novelty the modern agenda as well as the idea of constructing a painting i paint because i reproduce photographic images in painting images that become images with skin i have always been fascinated by the amazing adventure of western painting hand made images with their own texture their own scent there may be some irony in the production in this day and age of images that are not appropriate for massive distribution i see contemporary painting as a kind of side luxury and maybe due to this fact as an activity that is driven by new and more subtle possibilities susy gómez in her work continues the tradition begun by post-minimalism and its rejection of form for form´s sake while refusing to impose any other possibility links it with the most current aesthetics related with the body and the female identity susy gómez `s work is characterized by its great technical versatility and rages from drawing to video by way of hybrid formats that she has made her own jorge mayet the mechanism of the representation of nature constituted for him a necessity through which he pretends recreate a construction of the imagination that conforms[close]

successively a memory all his work reflects his concern about the political and social situation of his land that make him leave cuba and that keeps hindering the progress and the dreams of his compatriots through the landscape he evoke memories and experiences of his own live which are as well the history of thousand of exiles joana vasconcelos the work of this artist has been unanimously associated with the lineage which stems from the ready-made pop-art or post-modernism starting out from ingenious displacement operations the artist offers us a complicit vision but one which is at the same time critical of contemporary society and the several features which serve the enunciations of collective identity especially those that concern the status of women class distinction of national identity.[close]
