frida s arty fridays join us for an artsy adventure exploring the contemporary arts and artist in florence and its neighboring cities we have many exciting site visits of local and emerging artist from studio visits to gallery exhibitions to special trips in addition we have included a variety of artist documentaries and works which have been selected for special viewings don t be in the lurch get out and explore the new and emerging arts of one of the most famous art cities in the world and be a part of this journey everybody can join first reserved to fine art and art history students who must participate in at least 3 mandatory activities that will be part of the final grade breakdown when signing-up you will be required to give the name of your professor and title of course 1 friday sept 9 first week of classes 2 friday sept 16 h 2.30 pm meet in via san gallo 45r free minimum 3 participants gallery/museum biagiotti gallery florence we will visit the gallery of carole biagiotti and her daughter catherine hosting the exhibition bangkok density catherine will illustrate the works of the young thai artists present in the show and what it is like to have a contemporary art gallery in the very core of renaissance florence 3 friday sept 23 h 9.15 am smn train station meet in front of the pharmacy 20 minimum 5 participants studio visit andrea salvatori outside florence visit to the small villages of faenza solarolo and the amazing studio of contemporary ceramist and artist andrea salvatori andrea salvatori is not only an affirmed artist himself he works with the most important ceramists worldwide namely bertozzi and casoni and his works are present at the latest venice biennale coming from faenza the land of ceramics par excellence he will show the tricks of his art and take us in the fantastic land of his figurines little lords and japanese cartoons all rigorously done in ceramics the trip to his studio will allow us a stop over in the beautiful villages of faenza birthplace of italian ceramics and of solarolo birthplace of the worldwide famous singer laura pausini we will leave at 9:30 am and be back around 6.00 pm 4 friday sept 30 h 2.30 pm -via san gallo 45 r artist s talk maria raponi f_air s artist in residence maria raponi will introduce her work to fua students and to all those interested in sharing her amazing experience as an artist abroad maria raponi s use of different medias and materials will surely fascinate you don t miss this arty friday to follow movie the big crack gibellina the controversial land art piece by alberto burri this amazing documentary investigates the dramatic consequences of the decision of burying the debris of gibellina a sicilian small village destroyed by an earthquake in 1968 under an imposing still fascinating work of art by the great master from città di castello.
