history of rc olongapo centennial rotary club of olongapo centennial rcoc was conceived and organized during the term district governor vitt o guttierrez lend a hand and through the pioneering efforts of district secretary bert rendor and district governor s special representative dgsr pp donald g masson rotary club of olongapo actual conception took place during the 40th birthday of rotarian nester nes r dimaculangan on may 5 2004 rotarian nes laid out his vision thoughts for the formation of a new club to many rotarians present dg vitt issued a green light to rtn nes after presenting a list of 20 plus prospective charter members thus the organizational phase started with the ensuing assignment of dgsr pp don undertaking of the required city wide new club survey and the continuation of seeking quality prospective charter members the first meeting of prospective members was held on may 14 2004 meeting weekly with the good lord s guidance and valuable assistance of duly assigned personnel with the approval of the rotary club of olongapo on june 1 2004 the new club adopted the name rotary club of olongapo centennial on june 2 2004 rcoc passed a milestone when dg vitt signed papers designating the prospective club as a provisional club within rotary international district 3790 the final milestone was the announcement from rotary international that the provisional rotary club of olongapo centennial was accepted into it s membership with club number 65917 on june 30 2004 two things are certain to rcoc a passionate vision to rotary s motto service above self and sincere feelings to the needs of our less fortunate citizenry charter members and the charter president stated we believe in the cause of rotary international and are destined to give our all supporting those causes in anyway we can avail of our time and resources 5 reach within to embrace humanity

ri president 03 march 2011 to the rotarians of district 3790 my dear brothers and sisters in rotary more than 75 years ago rotary s founder paul harris wrote the world is constantly changing and rotary must be prepared to change with it it is a truism that has held through decades and across continents in tens of thousands of rotary clubs throughout the 6 ri president kalyan banerjee reach within to embrace humanity world change is why we are here and what we strive for we are not satisfied with the lowest common denominator for rotary is anything but common we see the world not as it is but as it might be and we believe as mohandas gandhi said that we must be the change we wish to see in the world in your clubs and your homes throughout your district each of you has the potential to be the change of which you dream in this rotary year as we reach within to embrace humanity i ask all of you to strive without fear or limitation to open your minds and your hearts to the possibilities of rotary service do not hesitate do not falter rather stay steadfastly on the path that is set forth for you let me paraphrase the poet robert frost and say but i have promises to keep and miles to go before i sleep let s enjoy the journey sincerely kalyan banerjee

president s message on friday july 1 rotarians all over the world has started rotary year 2011-2012 rc olongapo centennial kicked off the year with d3790 and jollibee corp provided a children s party to less fortunate children in our community with the help of ipp celson pp abs v.p albert pe marissa rtn salve rtn club president ronnie along associate member fery rose and mark e thomas angie we made the children of the king s filam home located in gordon heights i thank all those in attendance and want to encourage others to reach within this year and embrace humanity saturday july 2 again rc olongapo centennial members did not disappoint with the attendance of ipp celson sec/pp aime pp abs v.p albert pe marissa and rtn salve our club had a strong representation at the membership development seminar the first district affair of the rotary year with your help cluster 4-c had 100 participation again from the bottom of my heart i want to thank you for your support your support on saturday did not stop there with receiving the sad news of the charter president s mother passing away you were willing to travel from balanga city to masinloc to support our rotary family i hope for your continued support this rotary year to make our club stronger to do greater things 7 reach within to embrace humanity go grow and glow president mark e thomas

rotary information rotary information the first four rotarians gustavus loehr silvester schiele hiram shorey and paul p harris circa 1905-1912 9 reach within to embrace humanity the world s first service club the rotary club of chicago was formed on 23 february 1905 by paul p harris an attorney who wished to capture in a professional club the same friendly spirit he had felt in the small towns of his youth the rotary name derived from the early practice of rotating meetings among members offices rotary s popularity spread and within a decade clubs were chartered from san francisco to new york to winnipeg canada by 1921 rotary clubs had been formed on six continents the organization adopted the rotary international name a year later as rotary grew its mission expanded beyond serving club members professional and social interests rotarians began pooling their resources and contributing their talents to help serve communities in need the organization s dedication to this ideal is best expressed in its motto service above self by july 1925 rotary had grown to more than 2,000 clubs and an estimated 108,000 members the organization s distinguished reputation attracted presidents prime ministers and a host of other luminaries to its ranks among them author thomas mann diplomat carlos p romulo humanitarian albert schweitzer and composer jean sibelius.
