prof r p kaushik is a seasoned academician and administrator with more than 40 years of experience in responsible positions he is a former professor of j.n.u commission member of ugc and indian ambassador to turkmenistan prof kaushik has also been on selection committees of vice chancellors of different universities he is a distinguished scholar in social sciences and humanities having served more than three times as the chairman of governing bodies in delhi university and member of executive council of jnu he has also been a director of the board of andhra bank for six years member of university grants commission ugc and member of executive committee of naac.he is currently a member of the executive committee of idsa new delhi and the executive council of naac bangalore prof r p kaushik chancellor 20 6 pgdm ph.d

academic activities the campus is always abuzz with academic activities throughout the year the institution believes that management is about holistic development and can only be imparted through a multipronged approach therefore the institute regularly hosts talks by luminaries conducts workshops conclaves and management conventions and focuses on various other academic activities including corporate tie-ups and research publications advisory board management education is not a standalone activity with changing workplace culture and business innovations management education needs constant update based on feedback from corporate leaders so that what is taught in the campus is in sync with what is demanded by the industry ksom therefore has an advisory board consisting of eminent corporate leaders including managing directors group presidents ceos and vice presidents of leading indian and overseas mncs and academicians that meets regularly to strategize on the institution s thrust areas and fine tune its pedagogical endeavours.

assessment and mentoring in order to ensure that students have someone to turn to for expert advice ksom has implemented a mentoring programme across all its courses every student is assigned a faculty mentor who is primarily responsible for the academic well-being of the student the mentor-mentee interactions are tracked every month by the university to ensure that the programme is rigorously implemented the topic of discussion can range from mentee s attendance status to specific areas of difficulty in a particular subject however as the nature of interaction is mostly informal away from the classrooms and any other formal academic set up in most cases mentors also don the role of an advisor taking particular interest in the overall wellbeing of the student in the campus assessement center helps students identify their weak areas and work on strengthening them each student is carefully tested on various areas ­ it includes both soft and academic skills ­ and then scored each scorecard is shared with the respective mentor so that the student can get focused attention of the mentor these seminars are conducted under three broad umbrellas innovation series corporate series and knowledge series innovation seminar aims to bring to the young minds at campus radical business ideas start-ups workplace innovations and new ways of reaching out to consumers by turning conventional business wisdom on its head it celebrates the spirit of entrepreneurship knowledge seminar brings holistic learning that goes beyond the principles of management it can discuss topics ranging from emotional intelligence to work-life balance corporate seminar discusses regular corporate issues whether it s marketing a single product or nurturing an entire business unit the seminar provides budding managers a unique experience to interact closely with senior corporate leaders and learn the nuances of management first hand seminars to foster multi-dimensional learning that goes beyond the traditional classroom based pedagogy ksom regularly organizes various seminar talks for the students and faculty members in the last year alone more than 40 illustratious speakers from various fields delivered talks in the campus they include mr prahlad kakkar noted ad filmmaker and entrepreneur prof pankaj chandra director iim bangalore mr rajesh jha executive director jindal steel power commodore dilip mohapatra vice president suzlon mr r.k.singh head r r tata steel mr k.k.mohanty executive director srei infrastructure finance ltd mr jishu krishna mohanty country head essar telecom mr sandeep patnaik visiting faculty the wharton school prof r.h dholakia professor iim ahemadabad and mr shashank pal vp zonal head sbi funds management private ltd.

management development programme mdp ksom conducts regular mdps for both young and middle level executives for various private and public sector organizations while such programmes disseminate management education among a far wider and diverse audience they also enrich ksom through the rich experience and exposure such an audience brings on board these programmes are designed carefully in discussion with the senior management of companies to cater to the specific needs of their respective organizations they are a combination of classroom and activity based learning including experiential learning conducted through various outdoor games ksom s mdps cover a wide range of topics such as financial management strategic and general management business communication corporate ethics team building and competency development including niche areas such as real estate marketing.

faculty development programme fdp the fdp programme leverages ksom s years of experience in using case studies while teaching and carrying out research in the various areas of management writing case studies and research papers is another focus area of our fdp the participants are explained the power of case study based teaching and how to use the right case for explaining a management concept doctoral programme the doctoral programme aims to pursue contemporary problems in management that requires critical and out-of-the-box thinking the programme awards ph.d in management from the kiit university since 2005 the institute has been enrolling scholars from india and abroad for their doctoral research in management participants undergo a rigorous selection process including multi-disciplinary interviews before being selected for the programme parikalpana ­ the in-house journal ksom s in-house journal encourages faculty members and students to go beyond the traditional focus areas of management and explore innovative and creative ways of carrying out business the journal is a peer-reviewed biannual publication that has recently been re-launched with a contemporary look contents of the journal include case studies articles research or otherwise and high-quality project work by students and faculty members.

corporate tie-ups dassault systemes worldwide plm leader and software innovator has established a plm product lifecycle management lab and centre of excellence dassault systemes chair manages this one-of its-kind endeavor in india additionally the institute recently became a sap university alliance partner making its students sap-ready student engagement in addition to the various academic activities directly conducted by the institute ksom actively encourages and promotes student interest groups so that they get a first-hand experience of what management is all about like academic activities student activities too are spread out throughout the year and include welcome parties cultural shows quizzes and other business competitions voluntary work self-assignments and projects and workshops kolosseum kolosseum ksom s annual mega inter b-school festival is the high point of all student activities the three-day extravaganza witnesses a bevy of competitions including b-plans advertising best manager gaming choreography fashion and many more assorted management games along with rock shows fashion parade and star night however in addition to being a platform for students to unwind kolosseum provides an opportunity to the students to run an event from start to finish picking up several aspects of management along the way.

student clubs student clubs hone the management skills of the students it brings together several aspects of management such as team work time and event management intergroup coordination external and internal marketing financial management and many more ksom students have formed eight clubs namely finance marketing hr systems clubs entrepreneurship alumni and sports clubs and finally the creative and general management club each of the clubs are overlooked by a faculty-in-charge and headed by a student coordinator members include both first year and second year students each club prepares its annual event plan and gets it approved from the faculty-in-charge events/activities conducted by the clubs include quizzes discussions and debates wall magazines and e-magazines shows and workshops management games and guest talks the creative and general management publishes ksom s quarterly e-magazine pravah containing contributions from faculty and student members similarly the alumni club is instrumental in organizing annual alumni meet in the campus the sports club is busy throughout the year organizing several inter and intra-institute matches of cricket table tennis football basketball etc other student activities and interest groups in addition to clubs that are primarily related to academics students at ksom involve themselves in various other activities such as social and community work blood 24x7 is one such initiative founded by ksom students in the year 2010 the group has been instrumental in not just creating awareness about blood donation through meetings and street plays but also has organized blood donation camps the students nss national service scheme wing at ksom has taken part in several social work such as planting trees and conducting pds and hygiene surveys in the rural areas nearby it was started at ksom during the youth week january 12-19 2011 to usher the students on the path of social service and community development.
