mr linden s library acknowledgments i had such a fun time writing this novel while writing i did hit some walls and at times i became frustrated i never used to believe i could write a book but now i have proven myself wrong i have found i rather enjoy writing stories i would like to thank my teacher mrs olson for believing i could write this story and for creating this assignment if it was never assigned then writing a story would have been pushed aside like so many of my other hobbies my inspiration was one of harris burdick s mysteries mr linden s library the picture intrigued me and started the gears of my imagination if it wasn t for my school then i wouldn t have had the laptop to type my story i would also like to thank tyler marcoux for correcting my grammatical errors without these contribution s none of this would have been possible thank you 4

mr linden s library he couldn t stay with her he wanted to give her everything and the one thing he didn t was the thing she wanted the most he had to give her up for her to be happy it was the only way right now he longed for her presence she would know how to handle this situation formulated by this wretched child with his back against ramona s bedroom door jack s legs began to tingle he had been sitting on the hardwood floor of the stairwell for hours trying to persuade her to evacuate the room he read the rolex around his wrist 2:56 am he didn t have time for this he had to be leaving for work in less than four hours releasing a sigh jack climbed to his feet and decided to try again pounding on the solid oak door jack yelled ramona open this door this instant all the other tries ramona had replied with a no but not this time she didn t even reply he was getting furious yet at the same moment he was worried sick what if she s dead he began to wonder jack pressed his ear against the thick heavy door attempting to hear any rustling noises or at the least breathing nothing came this wasn t good enough he needed something to magnify the noise he started heading to the kitchen to get a glass but then came to the realization he was a doctor he could use his stethoscope quickly jack ran to his office reached into his desk drawer and collected his medical instrument the stethoscope felt cool on his ears and cheeks and when he placed it against a flat surface on the door it made an acute thud the sound of moving leaves traveled through the medical instrument but there wasn t a hint of breathing maybe she s dead or maybe she climbed out the window jack preferred the latter even though the first thought did sound inviting assuming ramona climbed out the window jack 6

mr linden s library started down the stairs ramona s room was on the third floor of his large home actually it was the third floor the stairs from the second floor went straight to her door when jack finally made his way to the main floor he stopped by the vestibule s closet and obtained a powerful flash light he then went outside of his home he concluded she had to of climbed down a tree so he went to the only windows which had trees by them shining the flash light up to the window jack was astounded all the windows were closed jack pondered did i not hear leaves blowing in the wind curious he rushed up the two flights of stairs to the bedroom grabbing the stethoscope again on his way panting jack waited to catch his breath i m getting way to old for this approaching 43 years of age jack was the older of him and his brother finally able to breath normally he put the stethoscope to the solid oak door for a second time fulfilling his curiosity the same sound flowed through the medical instrument the sound of rustling leaves appeared to be growing it was getting louder and louder the door had to be opened but how ramona had the only skeleton key to the door with her maybe the door could be taken off the hinges no that won t work the door opens into the bedroom the only possible solution was to chop the door down jack descended to the basement where he kept his axe his axe hadn t been touched in over ten years it was rusty and dull he sharpened the tool to a sharp edge and then rushed up to the bedroom door oh how much he hated to soil his hand crafted solid oak door but it had to be done with one swift motion the axe rose above his head and then traveled downward barreling into the door with great force again the axe rose above his head traveled downward and barreled into the door for a third and final time the axe rose above his head traveled downward and barreled into the door scattering the remains of the door what lay ahead of dr jackson 7
