president s message the vrha ran their last show for the 2011 season on the th th weekend of november 26 27 at werribee park national equestrian centre a big thank you to judge lisa lawson and scribing for lisa was husband rob and for taking the time to travel to victoria for this show this show highlighted the last of the hi point buckle series classes to a very close finish in all divisions blue inxs ridden and owned by wendy starr took out the junior horse buckle and prize money by one point over miss major gold ridden by paul barratt and owned by bethany barratt the senior horse buckle and prize money went to miss congeniality ridden and owned by brett hands with ep sacromentos playboy ridden and owned by debra versluis as runner up rookie level 1 buckle was won by glenda tjepkema and the rookie level 2 buckle went home with khris martin the vrha end of year hi point awards were also presented and the results of these can be found in this newsletter while the weather was horrendous at werribee the rain teemed down on us for 17 hours straight from friday night to late saturday night but having two indoor arenas we were extremely lucky to compete and warm up indoors not so fortunate for the show horse of the year qualifiers on the outside dressage arenas we saw lots of smudged makeup and ruined outfits how lucky are we to have indoors to compete in th after a late night with the hi point presentations sunday 27 we were up early again for a clinic with professional reining trainer graham cooper we would like to also thank graham for travelling to victoria clinic participants had the opportunity to gain many training techniques and expert advice from graham all in all everyone including horses went home tired but very fortunate to have attended the vrha look forward to graham returning in the future to hold another clinic after two and a half days of reining for the last weekend of the 2011 vrha reining calendar it was wound up with excitement for the following year of reining to come and very exhausted committee members who continue to keep the club running for its members once again we urge members to step up and help the current committee of only a few wherever possible to keep reining in victoria going st nd january 21 22 2012 starts off with the first show of the season and another two days at werribee park a continental affiliate qualifying show on the saturday to be judged by don mclaughlin with don also staying for the sunday to run a clinic we look forward to don travelling to victoria and sharing his experience with us this will also be a clinic not to be missed due to the current vrha committee only being in a caretaker position the february show which for many years has been the victorian derby state championship show will in 2012 be held as one of vrha s nrha continental affiliate qualifying shows only this amendment to the show calendar has come about mainly due to a shortage of volunteers for the vrha committee a limited amount of time to organise a major show and also to co-ordinate sufficient sponsorship to fund the show the vrha committee is currently arranging a show calendar with gvrha for 2012 with a victorian state championship show to be held as a combined show between the two clubs at werribee during november 2012 it is envisaged that a series will be conducted together by both clubs leading up to the november state championship show information of the series will be available once all of the details are finalised the vrha committee regret postponing this event from the traditional time of february but by combining our efforts with the gvrha it proposes to reduce the work load on both affiliates and has the potential to produce a better show for all parties and competitors i hope to see you all at the first vrha show for the 2012 season next month ride and slide committee president peter tjepkema 0418 321 289 vice president ciro casa 0418 585 489 secretary position vacant caretaker treasurer/memberships bethany barrat general committee wendy o sullivan 0419 139 066 paul barratt 0418 534 544 jenny holmes 0427 377 119 john woods 0417 699 010 katelyn barratt glenda tjepkema minute taker email contacts membership general enquiries vrhaenquiries@hotmail.com show entry enquiries vrhashowentry@hotmail.com classifieds advertising vrhaclassified@hotmail.com clinic entry enquiries vrhaclinic@hotmail.com peter tjepkema vrha president ®tm
