it was the night of halloween everyone was getting all dressed up in there crazy costumes but this year my friends and i decided not to we decided to all go up to the creepy old haunted house across the street we had everything all planned out my friend lucy and i decided to go with each other on the short journey across the street we both layered up with our warm woollen jumpers grabbed our touches and the junk food then quickly waddled out the door and across the street we finally reached the old haunted house we waited for the rest of the group so we could all go inside together after 10 minutes of waiting lucy and i decided to go in it was a long walk up the ridged path we walked arm and arm as we shined the torch vigorously around making sure it was just us we reached the steps lucy s face had turned pale white we very slowly took a step up then the floor bored let out a mighty big creek lucy was startled she let out a squeal we looked at each other and carried on up the raggedy broken stairs we reached the large web covered wooden door i reached out to grab the cold

metal door nob when suddenly a flicker of light gashed above our heads we both jumped and let out a monstrous squeal in one quick sharp movement i twisted the nob lucy and i scrambled in inside was cold dark and empty the floor boreds made a loud piercing sound in our ears we held our breaths trying not to squeal suddenly i felt a huge lump in my throat as we took more steps forward i could feel it getting bigger lucy and i stood in the middle of the room shining our torches around then hastily we heard noises surrounding us i felt lucy cling on to my hand she whispered in my ear what s that over there in the corner i swiftly shuffled over into a dark corner i then felt something sticky ooze between my toes i rapidly shinnied the torch down at my feet i had just stood in a giant puddle of blood the blood leaded up to the object in the corner there was a navy green tarp that was huddle up in the corner of the room i slowly tiptoed up to it my heart was pounding i started shaking and sweating my teeth

and lips were moving yet no sound was coming out i looked back at lucy she was squeezed right into the corner on the other side of the room i really started freaking out now but i had come this far i wasn t going to back down i slowly moved my shivering hand towards the tarp took a deep breath and whooshed it away i screamed at the top of my lungs wrapped up between the sheets lay the soggy blood covered body of shelly one of my friends that were meant to meet us outside the house tears trickled down my face i stumbled over to lucy by then the front of my top was dripping with tears lucy and i collapsed onto the ground bawling our eyes out after ten minutes of taking in what we had just saw lucy and i slowly stood up we were both still in shock my heart was pounding more than it had ever been before we dashed for the door and stumbled down the stairs we ran back over the road swung the door open and darted into mums room we then spilled out the story of what had happened mum looked at us as if we were making it up so i snatched the phone off her bedside table and rang 111.

suddenly i heard loud noises and saw red and blue flashing lights come down the street we showed the tall officer dressed in blue the house it took over an hour to search the house high and low then slowly he came out with a sad look on his face by then mum was starting to believe what was going on the officer approached mum lucy and i he said that shelly s body wasn t the only body they found inside the old haunted house there was also sam and joseph our other friends more tears poured down our faces mum turned to me and lucy and gave us a huge hug we all waddled back in side sat down on the couch crying out all of our sorrows lucy glanced at me and whispered in my ear i know where we won t be going for halloween next year
