public school 229 queens emanuel kaplan school 67-25 51st road woodside ny 11377 tel 718 446-2120 fax 718 672-311 http tinyurl.com/2non2p assistant principals joyce woesthoff gina mascia corinne caballero afterschool program winslow jones supervising school aide addy russo dr.sibylle ajwani principal to all staff from sibylle ajwani re school rules/regulations date september 2012 absence -sick days are accumulated 1 per month earned on the 16th of each month -sick days are not accrued during the summer months -of the 10 accumulated during the year 10 may be taken as personal illness no doctor s note three of the 10 days may be taken as personal business days provided that reasonable advance notice is given to the principal -all requests for personal days require a form that must be filled out submitted at least 3 days prior to the day and must be approved first by the principal -once the 10 personal illness days are taken in one school year a doctor s note will be required for absence with pay -upon returning from a day of absence you must see the payroll secretary to sign your car cumulative absence record and retrieve your timecard -if you are going to be absent you must call the school at 7:00 am so coverage may be arranged if you are late you must punch in if you are late more than 30 minutes the time will be deducted from your paycheck transportation or medical issues will only be excused if the proper documentation is submitted along with a form that must be filled out and approved by the principal -if you have an accident it must be reported to a supervisor as soon as possible and a report must be completed -if a child has an accident the appropriate form must be completed and given to priscilla the parent must be notified although there is no written dress code we are educators and role models please maintain a professional image in the building at all times -cell phones are only to be used during your prep and lunch period please refer to article 34 of the law refresher for specific cell phone use -classroom phones are to be answered by the teacher or para in the room students are not permitted to answer the phone -sick children should not be sent to the office please send them to the nurse who will determine if the child should be sent home -children waiting to go home will remain in their classroom until the parent arrives -pk and kindergarten children are not allowed to leave the room unescorted by an adult -children in grades 1-5 must have a buddy 6th graders will be independent all children must sign a log with date and time they are leaving the room any child requiring daily medication should have a 504 filed with the nurse if you lateness accidents attire cell phones classroom phones children leaving the room medication 15
