dear parents and guardians this is just a short letter to give you eight pieces of information and imminent dates 1 children in need day friday 18th november will be a non uniform day as has become the tradition at budehaven students will pay £1 on the day with the proceeds going to children in need i know that a number of the students are also doing individual and group fund raising efforts including the sale of cakes during break and lunchtimes 2 monday november 28th sees the visit of internationally renowned children s choir pearl of africa from uganda they will give a concert in the school hall starting at 7.00pm having spent the day running workshops at budehaven and in our local primary schools this really is an opportunity not to be missed tickets are available from budehaven or your local primary school priced £2 for adults and £1 for children aged 16 years and under all proceeds will go to the choir for further details see www.pearlofafrica.org.uk do not be put off by the fact that their website says they re in bude on a different date they have swapped their last two concert venues 3 tuesday november 29th is the date of our new sixth form transition evening for year 11 students looking at courses for next year mr sellars and mr white led an assembly on monday where prospectuses were made available to students do come along and hear about the sixth form experience and learn about the courses we offer the evening is aimed at year 11 students and parents but you will not be barred entry if you are a different year group 4 some parents have contacted the school asking whether or not the school will be open or closed on wednesday november 30th as a result of industrial action all public sector unions continue to be involved in negotiation with the government at the same time some are still awaiting the results of ballots i shall keep parents informed 5 on the early evening of friday 9th december we welcome dan rogerson mp to school for the presentation of gcse certificates and prizes to last year s year 11 students more details will follow soon 6 the music concert in the parkhouse on the calendar for tuesday 13th december has been moved to the night before and will now take place on monday 12th december 7 we start back to school after christmas on wednesday 4th january 2012 i am aware that the calendar i sent to you back in september has not got tuesday 3rd january shaded out as being holiday my apologies our last day in school before christmas is thursday 15th december as stated.
