Recycle your Christmas Tree with Trinity Hospice in exchange for a donation this year, helping Trinity Hospice to provide essential care in your area to people with life-limiting illness. We will arrange for your tree to be collected from areas: FY1, FY2, FY3, FY4, FY5, FY6, 6-8, FY8 on Saturday & Sunday 12th & 13th January 2019 Can you help volunteer? We are looking for people (with vans, trailers etc and without) who can spare a day or two to help out and collect trees from FY1-5 & FY8 homes and drop them off at designated points. If you could volunteer for just one day on either Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th January - it would be a HUGE help. We need 7.5-tonne box vans, tipper vans, flatbeds or car with a trailer. There will be a central site over the weekend and you will be provided with a high vis, safety briefing, risk assessment and full route maps for all your tree pick-ups and the address of your designated drop off point. We will be asking for donations prior to this weekend so you will not need to handle any cash on the day. The fund is available for community organisations, registered providers (also known as housing associations) and community focussed private developers. Whether you are an existing community group or simply an individual or groups of friends who have an interest in community housing, Wyre Council are urging you to register your interest and find out more about the scheme. Community-led housing is about local people playing a leading and lasting role in solving local housing problems by designing, developing and/or managing genuine affordable homes. The funding can help support capacity building for existing and potential community groups in the borough. It can also support pre-construction design and site preparation works, and acquisition of sites and construction costs. There are many benefits associated with community led housing including the chance to provide affordable housing in your area, the renovation of derelict, vacant or under-used properties, the creation of eco-sensitive ‘low-impact’ homes and the mean to expand skills and employment. Here is our five picks for the best home improvement resolutions for 2019 and how to achieve them: 1. Streamline your stuff. One of the best and least expensive ways to feel better about your home is to clear it of the clutter. Every year we all acquire a mountain of stuff (especially during the festive period). This year resolve go room-by-room and clear anything you don’t use or love, and organise the things you do want to keep. Think twice about anything you bring into your home. Fill your home with the things that make you feel good and raise your energy levels. 2. Make your home safe and sound. Your home needs to be safe. Install a carbon monoxide detector on every bedroom floor in addition to smoke alarms. Also, watch out for flammable materials like dryer lint. Most people neglect to clear the vents behind the dryer as well as the little trap inside the door. Lint can seem innocent, but it’s highly combustible. 3. Reduce your carbon footprint and shrink your bills in the process. When people think of going green, they often think it takes investments like solar panels and hybrid cars to make a difference.
