term 4 week 2 tuesday 1st november 2011 our school vision to provide a platform which launches enables students to make their own limitless choices tena koutou katoa greetings to you all lower waipa speech competition tonight we are hosting the final speech competition for the year the lower waipa speech competition the event starts at 7pm sharp with students giving speeches needing to be at school by 6:40 at the very latest please come along and support our students who are competing against children from 8 other schools athletics day tomorrow we have our school athletics day events will start at approx 9:15am and run throughout the day please note this event will go ahead rain or shine if it is very cold/rainy then the youngest children will not run all children must come to school as usual this is always a fun day so do please come along and support your child parents wearing their children s house colours get extra points icas new south wales maths tests congratulations to the following students who took the icas maths exam the participants were tested on number arithmetic algebra patterns measures units space geometry and chance data icas tests are offered each year to students in years 4 to 8 and are optional participation awards nathan barnett nicholas lowther amy nightingale kurtis reichelt emily shaw ben lowther emma johnstone bethany gray aidan o connor olivia webber distinction awards katie osborne william robertson dental clinic the mobile dental clinic have confirmed they will be at ohaupo school mid-way through next week all students will have their teeth checked unless you inform us otherwise as part of the new prevention programme parents/caregivers are invited to attend with their children for their dental appointment at the appointment your children s teeth will be checked including pre-schoolers if you would like to attend a family preventative appointment please complete the form which is available from the office if you have the email version of the newsletter see page 3 sunhats reminder another reminder that all students must bring a named hat to school the hat can stay at school so it is not forgotten each day the best hats are wide-brimmed or bucket or `legionnaire type hats caps are not recommended as they do not provide sufficient protection to the back of the neck terms 4 and 1 are `sunsafe terms and students without a hat must stay in the shade during morning tea and lunch-times room 4 6 camp next monday 7th november rooms 4 and 6 are off to camp students and parents taking transport must be at school by 8:45am i hope you all have a great time and make some lasting memories to bring back to school sue mclocklan principal week 2 wednesday 2nd november ohaupo athletics day thursday 3 november ossc sports club agm staff room at 7pm saturday 5 november fireworks fiesta at ohaupo rugby club 5pm to 9pm week 3 monday 7th november tuesday 8th november room 4 6 camp week 4 wednesday 16th november lower waipa athletics at tuesday 8th november year 7 8 honda motorcycle te awamutu athletic training day students in stadium room 7 to ensure they have retu rn ed t heir permission form reminders pta fireworks fiesta is this saturday please bring a grocery item for the raffle and add to our wheelbarrow in the office final reminder urgent student accounts to be paid room 7 camp fees due by 18th november phone 07 823 6736 fax 07 823 6732 email office@ohaupo.school.nz

pta news next meeting staffroom mon 21st november 7pm in the school cardboard boxes does anyone have any empty cardboard boxes or banana boxes we can have for collecting our paper recycling many thanks mrs boyes ohaupo school speech nights the last speech night was held last night thank you to everyone who has helped out over the last couple of months with these fireworks fiesta saturday 5th november keep this night free and bring your family and friends for a wonderful evening of entertainment to get your free family pass we require your help on the gate for 1 hour selling tickets or directing traffic or helping to set up and take down sat/sun please contact vicki foster 823 6949 after 7pm or leave a message or txt 027 69 66391 or e-mail foz-vic@xtra.co.nz or leave your name at the office if you can put up some flyers around local areas or your work please feel free grocery raffle we will be running a grocery raffle at the fireworks if each family could bring a non perishable grocery item for this and leave at the school office that would be awesome calendars all calendar orders must be at the office by wednesday 2nd november tomorrow no late orders will be accepted please pay by cash cheque made payable to ohaupo school pta or by direct credit to the pta bank account with your name as a reference 12-3134-0054622-00 calendars $12 each greeting cards pack of 8 with envelopes are $12 and diaries are $13 each a5 hard backed payment of school accounts the ohaupo school asb account number for direct payments of school accounts is 12 3134 0056759 00 please ensure you note the name of the student any enquiries to the office m e gre t pre ent have a look at the latest `lucky book club leaflets for some awesome books at great prices all books ordered get our school points towards free books for the library orders by monday 14th november any che ues to be made payable to cholas c community notices do you need a babysitter katie mourits is going to uganda in january to do voluntary work in a children s village she is currently looking for babysitting and odd jobs to help fund this donations are also greatly appreciated contact 07 823 6515 or email katie.mourits@gmail.com the hamilton roller skating club are running the following sessions this term in their newly enclosed facility on melville park the following are all the public sessions we are running this term starting with the sunday morning session sunday morning 10 a.m to noon mums and dads skate free kids $2.00 each $2.00 hire skates monday 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm learn to skate class includes skate hire $25 a term or $3 a night starts 7.2.11 tuesday 5.30 p.m to 7.00 p.m speed skating $2 ea thursday 5,30 p.m to 7.00 p.m speeds skating $2 ea thursday night twilight skate 7.00 p.m to 9.00 p.m $3.00 each $1.00 skate hire saturday morning 11.00 a.m to 1 p.m mums dads skate free kids $2 each $2 hire skates a great way to get out there and get active with your kids we are a lot cheaper than the ice rink that was operating in garden place if you would like any further information please ring kathy moody on 855 2523 or pearl best on 847 4527.
