hogwarsh volume 1 issue 5 june 2011 inside this issue `dog house 2 the bark unicorns stephen cosco reporter you all probably know the basics of unicorns they are supposedly mythical creatures they look like ponies but they have a single horn on their head and can fly first of all that is not all there is second of all they are real and anybody who says they aren t is lying and has had a unicorn attack them in their dreams they are also suffering from extreme brain damage now would you like to know everything there is to know about unicorns i am an expert so i will tell you first unicorns only live in one place on earth if you go to the very center of australia and press the green button hidden in the leaves an escape pod comes out if you enter the escape pod it will take you to the actually it s a secret let s just say it takes you to magiland and that is where unicorns live also unicorns are in no way at all related to ponies they are more closely related to king kong than an everyday animal also if you think that you see a unicorn you are wrong they wear cloaking devices when doing things like flying shopping or cow tipping they also can speak if you get to magiland then you can have a nice conversation with unicorns they speak every language they cannot seem to master speaking japanese the last fact i can share with you is that if you get near a unicorn you will instantly be filled with happiness no matter how angry you are do you feel better knowing the truth about unicorns fehlner fever 2 ride for missing children entertainment news 2 3 texting emotions 3 other fun articles 3 and 4 calendar 4 puzzles 4 no comics 4 how do you get to school garrett mcgovern reporter 2011-2012 the bark will be looking for staff early in september next year the newspaper staff is open to students in grades 7 and 8 if you are interested in joining our staff next year please let miss morgan or mr fehlner know so we have an idea of how many reporters we may have hope you decide to join we have a really great time and our newspaper is pretty awesome there are many way kids get to school students walk ride their bikes get a ride from their parents or ride the bus i prefer to ride my bike because it s good for you and it s fun to hang out at nice `n easy before school and buy soda and stuff i know people who use more than one way to get to school dustin and dylan either ride their bikes or ride the bus just like me john molnar gets a ride from his parents or rides his bike i don t know if he rides the bus or not i don t think he does i ride the bus more than half the school year my parents never give me a ride i think it is because they work really early in the mourning i know an interesting fact less than one quarter of the school gets a ride from their parents there might be a really cool way to get to school in the future did you know that in the future the school bus will be a hovercraft 8th graders say good-bye to middle school caylie fluharty reporter there is only 1 month left for us 8th graders in the middle school all of the teachers have been a great inspiration to me and i will miss them very much the teacher that i am going to miss the most is miss morgan she has taught to never give up and practice she encouraged me to join marching band three years ago and here i am now i am looking forward to seeing miss morgan all summer long another teacher i am really going to miss is mr benton for you who don t know him he is an amazing social studies teacher he has taught me so much you can have fun in his class room do your current event listen when he talks and remember his birthday november 26 all the teachers have taught me so much miss hawkins has taught me a lot of new words that i will now use in every day life mrs granza has taught me that science can be easy and fun and that she knows who i am going to end up marrying mrs seymour has taught me so much math that i will never understand mrs tucker has taught me spanish for the last two years mr fehlner taught me a new word last year it was prestidigitation which means sleight of hand in other words magic tricks lastly mr.kavanagh has been the principal the whole time i ve been here i will miss him very much thank you to all the teachers i will come back and visit you next year thanks for a great and fast four years have something you want to say write a letter and let us hear about it letters should be delivered to miss morgan or mr fehlner by the third thursday of the month.

`dog house modified track may be over but the laughs smiles and memories will last a lifetime marina deangleo reporter the 2011 track season ended with a bang all athletes did a phenomenal job all season long both boys and girls 4 by 1 relay teams set new school records the boys team finished in 55 seconds with the team consisting of ryan sweeney eric hauk erik harris and tyler deveans the girls team finished faster than any boys team last year megan bush marina deangelo savannah williams and monica cook crossed the finish line in 57 seconds tyler deveans won the 200 meter race with a time of 27 seconds and 8 milliseconds monica cook also finished first in the 200 meter race finishing with 28 seconds and 68 milliseconds the last meet was against teams from adirondack canastota and new york mills don t worry about the season ending any sixth grader or seventh grader interested can join next year and try and top our scores good job bulldogs in a very successful season justin bieber wrote a book cassidy hulser reporter justin bieber s book called justin bieber s first step 2 forever is a biography all about justin bieber and what he s been through to be where he is now when justin has tours it is hard to be a regular kid he s always on the go he always finds time to hang out with his friends and family it talks about some of his best friends and how they never thought he would become a famous singer but they supported him the whole way justin usually flies his friends down to see him every two weeks or so so they can hang out and play some basketball and also watch him perform in concert why is mr fehlner so cool cassidy hulser reporter well a lot of people in this school know mr.fehlner and how amazingly awesome he is he s just the funniest teacher ever he is a great teacher too he is one of the editors of this newspaper he cares about his students also his favorite food is bread his favorite color is green his favorite shape is a circle he found it very weird when i asked that his favorite number is 25,446,881.03 his favorite word is psithurism the noise the trees make when winds go through their leaves his favorite student is cassidy hulser his favorite ice cream is vanilla his favorite person is justin bieber his favorite time of day is early early morning his favorite movie is cool hand luke his favorite animal is an octopus his favorite kind of monkey is monkey in the middle his seventh grader girlfriend was linda woodchuck so this concludes that mr fehlner is awesome if you look up awesome in the dictionary it says mr fehlner linda woodchuck 7th grade can you dig a hole to china ben taylor reporter china is a place far away children in america think that they can dig a hole to china china isn t directly across the world from america you would have to figure out the angle to go at if you could we still don t have the technology to dig through the earth s mantel even if we did we still can t go through the magma in the earth s core if the earth didn t have magma in it still we wouldn t be able to because the gravity would make us stand still in the center of the earth as you can see there are a lot of reasons you can t dig a hole to china ride for missing children savannah decker reporter may 20th 2011 the amazing riders for the ride for missing children visited westmoreland middle to school they were greeted by cheering middle school students on the side of the road as they cycled into the school they were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful sounds of the jazz band they enjoyed fruit granola bars breakfast bagels water and more a special shout out goes to miss hawkins from westmoreland middle school for participating in the ride thank you riders and be safe pictured above 2010-2011 westmoreland middle school jazz band members with our mascot the bulldog and the ride s kangaroo page 2 the bark

entertainment news dohnovan mccarthy reporter fast five is an awesome movie it is the newest movie in the fast and the furious series it falls right before fast and the furious tokyo drift fast five is about this group of specialists who are trying to steal all the money from the biggest drug dealer in brazil while also being hunted by the fbi this movie stars vin diesel paul walker ludacris and dwayne johnson this movie is very actionpacked and has lots of drama fast five is rated pg-13 i give this movie 5 out of 5 stars this movie also had one of the biggest box office sales in history the first night and the whole first week you will be on the edge off your seat the whole time helen gray reporter the book deep and dark and dangerous written by mary downing hahn is all about a ghost named theresa who drowned the suspense is on when a thirteen-year-old girl named alison o dywer finds a photograph in her attic the photograph is of her mother claire her aunt dulcie and a third girl who has been torn out of the picture when ali takes a surprise vacation to the lake accompanied by her aunt and her cousin emma she meets a nasty little girl named sissy a neighbor assures her that sissy is just an ordinary girl with a bad temper but ali thinks otherwise and begins investigating sissy s very seemingly eerie past emma becomes influenced by sissy and her doll edith and wants to be like her she even talks rudely to ali and almost drowns in the lake which ali saves her from ali gets into an argument with sissy and sissy leaves emma runs crying to her mother saying ali was mean to her and called her names when dulcie gets fed up with all the fighting she discovers that the old ragged doll edith is the same one that she ali s mother and theresa had in their childhood they soon discover that sissy is theresa they soon decide to tell everyone their secret that they were the ones who were in the boat when theresa drowned after that they finally led a better life because they weren t weighted down with a deep and dark and dangerous secret typing for a new age looking for the hip up-to-date cool gnarly way to text check these different emotions that you can send to your friends remember to always practice internet and cell-phone safety other weird face to get you must underline smile oo other weird face to get you must underline oo frown :d big smile :o surprise xd laughing b sunglasses other weird face to get you must underline awkward mad face to get you must underline it s almost summer jessie bates reporter school is almost over full classes end on the seventeenth and then we have a few days of testing and its over for this year that means that we have barely anytime to get done everything we need to get done school work tests cleaning and getting ready for summer each have limited time now that it is almost summer children are starting to realize that school is going to end and sometimes they don t feel like doing anything but that doesn t make sense to me wouldn t you think that because school is almost over that people would hold out until the end and then do nothing but it seems as though they would like to start the second part of that now i don t disagree it would be fun to give up now and do nothing but the teachers get pretty mad when we do that but even the teachers would like to stop doing things but they are more mature and can t stop teaching unless they want to lose their jobs i think everyone needs to just push through then all of you can sleep all summer even all you teachers because your grades and jobs depend on it page 3 the bark page 3 volume 1 issue 5
