instructional technology web page the web page is currently being updated to include teacher resources student resources project development and a shared space for technology lesson plans across the curriculum found under educational technology instructional technology site and support temecula valley usd technology pauba valley elementary school highlighting technology is often focusing on one or two parts of a day that occur in a classroom in steven sloan s classroom technology is a way of life steven s class has over 30 laptop computers purchased mostly by him and his father at second hand dealers these computers have been reprogramed to serve as a resource to his direct instruction the technology behind the one to one laptop program is steven s father scott as a computer programer scott has taken on a lofty goal during his retirement and gone into making sure his programing skills go to help students learn the whole class is set up to support learning by assessing students current levels in math english language arts science and social science after students have been assess a baseline they system supports them as an individual by assigning content to each student that is at their needed level of appropriateness student start their lesson then receive help from tutorials when ever they get a question wrong students are fully engaged in the interactive instructional model as steven pulls students into small groups based on the need for further support students in the class are achieving and having fun doing so this program has been in effect in math for the last year and now has grown to include the other subject areas a full pilot of the program maybe just around the corner algebra target teachers one teacher from each of the middle schools and high schools have been called to take part in a targeted program that looks to support students with their continued development with algebra principles these teachers have undergone many days of training to support students and increase their perspective learning outcomes by including technology in their classroom part of this program has given each of these teachers 20 netbooks for students to access the aleks program assessment and learning in knowledge spaces is a web-based artificially intelligent assessment and learning system aleks uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what a student knows and doesn t know in a course aleks then instructs the student on the topics she is most ready to learn as a student works through a course aleks periodically reassesses the student to ensure that topics learned are also retained aleks courses are very complete in their topic coverage and aleks avoids multiplechoice questions a student who shows a high level of mastery of an aleks course will be successful in the actual course she is taking as targeted teachers the use of the aleks system allows teachers to have students work independently in the classroom while teachers support small groups the teachers in the program include the use of recorded lessons via document camera to quickly repeat lesson topics while monitoring students for understanding feedback is provided to the teachers from responders/clickers that assess students not succeeding on the aleks system temecula valley high school one-on-one ipad solution temecula valley high school has started a one to one ipad program for all the early level el students maria leanza is teaching students to access english content and develop fluency with free apps the ield program will give students a chance to create meaningful curriculum-centered audio projects student are using digital audio tools ipods mics garageband itunes keynote etc and various accessories to improve reading processes the implementation of these technologies has increased students motivation and engagement the students are also proud to have access to the technology so much so they look forward to going to class to learn.
