The publication draftWyre local plan,which sets out detailed policies for the management of development, including the allocation of land for residential and employment developments, was published for public consultation in September last year. In response, the council received representations from 763 individuals and organisations. The public examination into the Wyre local plan opened on 23 January, with public hearings held from 15 May 2018 to 5 June 2018. Following the council’s consideration of representations and issues raised by the examination Inspector and the Inspector’s post-hearing advice, the council has proposed main modifications to the local plan. Now it’s time for you to have your say on these modifications, which, if accepted by the Inspector, will form part of the plan when adopted as council policy. The consultation will take place over a six-week period beginning on 12 September and ending at 5.00pm 24 October. What happens now? Having published the publication draft local plan which has been subject to public hearings lasting two weeks, Wyre Council is about to enter a six week period of consultation, where you can have your say on the proposed main modifications to the Local Plan. Comments received at this stage can only relate to the main modifications and accompanying Sustainability Appraisal Addendum 2018.A guidance note has been published which will assist you in completing the consultation and explain the four factors of soundness. You can view this and take part in the consultation at www.wyre.gov.uk/localplan So, what will happen next? Once the six week consultation period has ended at 5.00 pm 24 October, the council will submit the responses to the Inspector who will consider the matters raised. As a result he may require further hearings to take place or, alternatively, move to complete his report on the local plan. The plan will then be adopted by full council. The sequence of headline projects that will catalyse the £100m regeneration of Blackpool town centre has been confirmed. With the traditional retail offer under serious threat on high streets throughout the UK, Blackpool Council is committed to focusing large-scale investment in a series of major schemes that will breathe new life into the town centre over the next three years.
