can a girl ask for he also has many queens that he looks up to on a local and national basis as well ian has all of his costumes hand made by local designer sam green of lestat couture they have a facebook page and i highly recommend checking it out a number of things sometimes he impersonates celebrities other times the show comes from the latest and greatest download on the ipod and new costume but other times the performances are a direct extension of himself expressing the innermost parts that is where in my opinion the true art comes from expression at its most raw to get up in front of an audience has got to make a girl feel pretty vulnerable right well ian quoted ru paul when i asked him about the challenges of his profession and lifestyle in general what other people think of me is none of my business touche i am ever fascinated by the thing that inspires an artist to wake up shake off the muck and get out there and for ian it is his goddaughter she is six years old and clearly a huge driving force in his life she makes him strive to be a good person and teach her the right way to live he says there is nothing that he would not do for that little girl and to me personally that in itself is pretty inspiring i hope that ian keeps on getting on that stage and entertaining us for years to come there is something special that comes from his effervescent spirit and it couldn t help but make its way to his shows anyone who has the courage and assurance to get up there and belt it out shake it all over and bring it home has something inside that not all of us have he is an entertainer so to you carousel man please don t let us off your merry-go-round i have always wondered where the inspiration comes from for these performances i have seen so many shows myself and they are always so elaborate and decadent where does it come from well for ian it could be

distorted perceptions bringing back authentic sound preface i d personally like to extend my thanks to distorted perception team members justin charles rothmeyerowner/founder jennifer fezza-business partner/promotions/social media jay andre business partner for taking the time out of their schedule for this interview without their help this article wouldn t have happened you guys are amazing if you know me you know i love to cook give me a list of ingredients and i ll fix you something that is not only filling but tastes great as well but as any good chef knows you can over do it too much seasoning too little of a key ingredient and that dish goes from great to gross in a matter of a second the same can be said for music it seems in an age where auto-tuning and synthesized sounds are all the rage everyone seems to forget the simpler times back when vinyl was king even after that when the cassette tape and 8 tracks were kings music then was raw organic simple nobody worried about digital remastery now it seems everything is so over processed that when you go and see a live band perform they hardly sound like themselves especially when it comes to pop acts one team has said enough is enough now is the time to go back to the basics to bring not only the original gritty organic sound back to pittsburgh but back to the music industry i sat down with distorted perceptions a local talent team that is focused on not only bringing back that original sound but turning the music industry on its head distorted perceptions started out 5 years back as a clothing company marketing everything from t-shirts to hats as time passed they started focusing more and more on the music growing into becoming the recording label they are today we really want to be able to focus on the music and the artist anymore it seems everything is so over processed it s hard to tell what s real said justin one of the team s members we want to be able to not only give back to the artist for their time and dedication but we want to also be able to give back to the community that is helping these artists get their names out this particular night i met with them they were recording at thirsty s sports bar and grill located over in allison park just outside of pittsburgh it was their open mic night and it seemed the talent there were eager to seize the opportunity laid before them we figured we d record for free tonight to try to help them get their name out we all know how hard it is to get into this [music industry the great thing about distorted perceptions is that not only do they focus on the artist first but they don t cover just one genre you know how it is you go to def jam and you re a rapper we aren t like that we take on all the different genres justin actually started out doing local performances in a punk band when punk was all the rage he s also covered some johnny cash songs as well in fact he had been asked a few times to perform as a cash impersonator currently justin is recording a new album slopsink symphonys with his band electrik sugar the album contains a style which is a new one of his own that he refers to as `junk yard jazz

by brittany wilson hidden treasure to yourself that she is just trying to fill up time because she knows shes not that great then her band begins playing one of your favorite songs and you just know she will never measure up then she opens that mouth of hers and your jaw drops she manages to rival the talent of the artist she is covering wondering if it is just a fluke you find yourself on your feet in anticipation for her next song and she doesn t disappoint you see that when she is up on the stage doing her thing she is in the zone and like so many great artists she takes on a second persona she becomes for less of a better word a diva a strong powerful woman who knows she is the stuff and knows she is good at her craft you look around and notice that throughout her entire show the audience is on their feet and at the end they are begging for an encore lyndsey smith a hidden sensation or another poser if you are into the music scene at all in pittsburgh you are on reverbnation.com and you will see lyndsey s name on the top 20 list so you grow a curiosity and click on her page you read her bio and see what may seem to be a sensationalist claim about her being the god-daughter of soul you listen to a few of her posted songs and notice your foot tapping a little along with the beat but you know that people can synthesize their voices so you are in disbelief about how she may truly sound so one day you hear about a show in which this lyndsey person is going to perform you decide to take a chance one night expecting the show to be mediocre believing she is just like so many other people that call themselves artist trying to make a name for themselves around the world at the show you are still wondering if your trip will be worth your time or another night wasted on a subpar show she begins her show talking and making jokes and you think when the show is over you manage to find a way to talk to this woman that has just blown your mind and you find yourself to be completely taken off guard again she does such a good job on stage putting on her persona of diva that you half expect her to be that way off the stage as well but that couldn t be further from the truth she admits that while she might have a little diva in her as most women tend to that she is really laid back she loves to hang around the house in her sweats playing with her kids or listening to some great music with her husband or watching a funny movie on her couch so back to the beginning lyndsey smith hidden sensation or just another poser anybody who sees this woman perform definitely knows shes a hidden sensation she channels her idol ella fitzgerald in a way that would make the icon herself stand up and applaud how this powerhouse has remained undiscovered as of yet is a complete mystery however one thing that is for sure is that anybody that likes good music will love what this woman is trying to do she is bringing back the sound of altos with a bang and there is no way she remains a hidden sensation for long.
