project spotlight coresite data center build-out project highlights product type customer location contract type power density ups power data center coresite reston va design-build up to 25 kws per cabinet 10 megawatts of modular selfcontained 2n and n+1 power distribution n+1 emergency generator configuration tier 4 including leak detection systems emergency power off epo systems and redundant power distribution unit pdu systems completed overview power design recently completed a 45,000 square foot build-out project of coresite s northern virginia data center a tier 4 center designed to meet the stringent security requirements of the government the project included cctv surveillance and biometric access control the build-out consisted of installing new ups uninterruptible power supply distribution units lighting grounding computer cooling systems and emergency shutoff systems one of the unique challenges facing this project included adapting 20-yearold oem switchboards with new circuit breakers without interruption to live computer rooms while keeping to the strict allotted timeframe this was completed with a temporary shutdown as well as the installation of connection straps and new cradles to house the circuit breakers the electrical work on the coresite project was closely integrated with the fiber cabling mechanical work and sprinkler and fire detection systems proper planning enabled power design to find and eliminate potential conflicts between the systems early on power design is currently working on two other coresite data center projects gross square footage 45,000 generator power computer rooms management team john taylor project manager jason calvert preconstruction coordinator roger wiegman cadd supervisor terris bass lead foreman brett roberson foreman 11600 ninth street north st petersburg fl 33716 powerdesigninc.us
