Students, parents and teachers involved in the eTwinning project MI-SELF were asked to complete a short survey. Based on the their responses the report was created!

MI-SELF (An eTwinning project) Student survey A total of 42 students from all 3 schools and of different classes completed the survey regarding the project. The primary reason behind the survey was to determine what students enjoyed the most as well as what they didn’t like about the project. The information gained as a result of these surveys will help plan future projects! The survey was written in 3 languages, English, Spanish and Greek in order to be user friendly. Students were allowed to answer in any language they wanted! What grade are you in? Ποιός είναι ο δασκάλος σου; It can be seen from the answers written below that students who completed the survey came from different classes. Students with a total of 9 different teachers completed the survey. This shows that students from different classes were involved in the project! It must be noted that from Dasoupolis primary school 5 more teachers were involved in the project but students from these classes didn’t complete the survey! The different teachers involved are: Mrs Katerina, Mr Kyriakos, Mrs Matina, Mrs Constantia Xenophontos, Mrs Maria, Mr Panos, Mr. Nick, Mr Pavlos and Mr Camilo. What activities did you participate in? Some of the activities were simple such as the voting competitions but most of the activities required a lot more preparation. Nearly all of the activities were collaborative and involved about 200 students from all 3 schools. The chart below shows the different activities associated with the project. This information will help us plan future projects. What was pleasing about these answers was the fact that a variety of activities were enjoyed by different students. It was not only 1 or 2 activities that were enjoyed by the students. Therefore it would be fair to say that a good project has a diverse range of activities that cater towards different students and their interests. Students were given the chance to write anything else they wanted about the project. This would give us, the educators, more information about what the students liked and if there was something they didn’t like! The students’ comments were very diverse and included but were not limited to the ones listed below: 1. I discovered the different intelligences. 2. I found out new things about myself. 3. I learnt a lot of new things. 4. Using twinspace was easy to do. 5. I enjoyed collaborating with another school. 6. I made new friends from Cyprus and Spain. 7. I enjoyed the interaction in the Rubik cube competition. 8. It was a cool experience/I loved the experience. 9. I enjoyed working on the “Scratch” activities. 10. The eTwinning forum let us exchange ideas and communicate with others. 11. I would like to do projects like this for the rest of my life. 12. We communicated in English with other students and with Mindy. 13. We learnt about the culture of other countries. 14. I was delighted to do activities like the calendar, the Rubik cube competition, karaoke and the treasure hunt with Cyprus. 15. I loved playing with other students from overseas. 16. I don’t want these projects to end because my teacher was funny and I had a lot of fun.

MI-SELF (An eTwinning project) Parent survey A total of 13 parents from 2 schools completed the survey regarding the project. The primary reason behind the survey was to facilitate communication between students and parents and as a result have the parents’ opinion heard based on what their children told them. Once again the information gained as a result of this survey will help plan future projects! Just like the student survey, this one was also written in 3 languages, English, Spanish and Greek in order to be user friendly. Parents were allowed to answer in any language they wanted! As can be seen from the question, only 1 response was permitted! This meant that students had to think carefully before telling their parents what they liked the most. Just like the student survey, a variety of responses were given which meant that different students liked different activities. The table on the right shows the results of the student survey whereas the table on the left shows the results of the parent survey. This was done simply for comparative reasons! If comparing both charts, one can see that the treasure hunt and the Kahoot game were the students’ favourite activities! Once again this information will also help us plan future project activities. As can be seen from the results below parents felt that through this project and its activities, their children gained experience and knowledge. They also felt that the project was interesting, exciting, fun, creative, different, motivating and collaborative! Other answers were also given. Parents were also given the chance to write anything else they wanted about the project. This would give us, the educators, more information about what the students liked and if there was something they didn’t like! Here is what the parents said: 1. The children played the computer game Kahoot against the other children participating in the programme. They found out about each other's favourite hobbies 2. I think it's interesting to discover other cultures and to work together to achieve goals. 3. The relationship between countries and the enthusiasm of students and teachers with the different activities was great 4. I think it is very interesting to know different cultures and understand that there are many things that are shared. The work they have developed with the new technologies is also very important. 5. Interactivity with other students 6. I really liked the project because they learn with other technologies, they discovered other countries, it helps them work in a group and at the same time it makes them more independent and above all the desire to learn and the fun they have 7. I loved everything about the project. It was super cool, I really enjoyed the trip through Europe in the PE class. 8. The communication with children from other countries, the use of the technologies and mainly the motivation with which our children have participated in the activities. 9. I think it's an extra motivation for the students. It has allowed them to discover in a practical way the existence of other countries and cultures. MI-SELF (An eTwinning project) Teacher survey A total of 10 teachers from all 3 schools completed the survey regarding the project. Each teacher had an important role in the project. Apart from the 3 project coordinators, the other teachers also contributed to making the project a success. One key reason for this was because they specialized in different curriculum subjects. The teachers surveyed taught English, Greek and Spanish. They also taught Art, Physical Education, Home Economics, Design and Technology, Environmental Education, Computers, Music and Life learning! Once again, the primary reason behind the survey was to see what the teachers thought of the project, if they’d participate again and if the project could be improved in any way! The information gained as a result of this survey will help plan future projects! The survey was written in 3 languages, English, Spanish and Greek in order to be user friendly. The teachers were allowed to answer in any language they wanted but every answer was translated to English in order to write this report! What grades, if any, did you use for this project?
