OVERVIEW OF THE RUSSIAN FURNITURE MARKET1 In Russia over 56 million families have their own houses. They create a strong demand for new furniture. Growth in the volume of residence brought into service. Provision of housing is one of priorities of the Russian Government. It supports the construction sector and allocates sufficient funds for these purposes (up to 320 million US dollars in 2017). As a result, in recent years the number of apartments built in Russia is increasing. New housing development stimulates the demand for new furniture for both newly-built and secondary housing. New apartments are usually furnished in a few years: it means the demand for furniture will grow in 2017–2018.
