what s in the newsletter this week smart start t 4 manawatu digi awards bp technology challenge parkland hub care of computer equipment parkland stars of the week swimming programme mufti day lost and found school start time parkland pride puzzler icas english achievements dear parents here we are at the end of another frenetic term full of activities and events the swimming programme at freyberg pool has been a feature of the term our thanks to everyone for your support with this worthy programme we would encourage anyone who is able to continue with swimming lessons outside of what the school can provide our thanks to the pta who has funded the bus transport to and from the pool tomorrow we will hold our mufti day for term 3 the theme is blackout and the coin donations will be used to support the work we are undertaking in the wilderness area our plan is to install a circular pathway through this area miss cravino left room 10 last friday and we are delighted to say has already had her baby congratulations to the cravino household we welcome back mrs bridget higson who will relieve in room 10 through until the end of the school year mrs anna ousey will be the acting junior team leader during this period our thanks to the parkland pta for their significant contribution this term their financial support has meant that we have been able to purchase a large screen for the foyer that will be used to share information we have also purchased new flip video cameras so that each room now has one.

the combination of hands reaching upwards is a clear link to the vision statement `rise to the challenge children at parkland school put their hands up they participate in a partnership of learning and they rise to the challenge smart start term 4 parents of children that are enrolled to start school in term 1 2012 will shortly receive details about the smart start programme due to the short term 8 weeks this programme will operate for the first five weeks of term only manawatu digi awards this is an exciting new initiative celebrating and showcasing student creativity through e-learning the event will take place on monday october 31 at the regent on broadway parkland school has a number of entries in the event bp technology challenge parkland wins congratulations to both our teams that entered the bp technology challenge held yesterday at st peters college the senior team came 1st in the ginger beer section and then came 2nd in the mystery back pack challenge the middle team won a spot prize for their work in the ginger beer investigation process well done many thanks to mrs mcdonald for her significant efforts.

www.parkland.school.nz to find 1 lost found from the home page go down the menu on the left hand side to parent information go across and down the sub menu to lost found click on lost found interesting website statistics since the launch of the website in july there have been 3618 visitors naturally most of these have come from within nz but a surprising number are from other countries such as united states 31 australia 27 united kingdom 17 as well as brazil south africa and germany blogs for those of you with children in the middle and senior school ask your child to show you their blogs these cover a range of topics and are developing all the time care of computer equipment we are finding some children are not treating this expensive equipment with the care that is required each class is currently talking about our expectations ask your child what sorts of things this might involve eg no food or drink near laptops or netbooks

swimming we are now in the second half of our swimming programme at the freyberg pool many thanks to parents for your efforts in getting togs and towels to school each day during this programme the swimming fees should be paid to the office before the end of this term please mufti day our mufti day for term 3 will be held tomorrow the theme is simply black the coin donations will be used to develop the pathway through the wilderness area lost found we have a growing collection of black shoes and sandals at school that are not named one pair of minty`s size 5 are almost brand new but have not been named school start time we are having a few problems at the moment with children arriving late for school on tuesday this week 28 children arrived in class after the bell parents are reminded that school starts at 8.50am not 9am to have children wandering in after the bell is very disruptive to the class and means the child often misses out on important notices your support in this matter would be appreciated parkland pride puzzler question what time does school start each day answer name room:
