Perched on steep, terraced slopes, it is a place blessed with lush gardens, quiet lanes, sleepy, sun-drenched corners, and a lofty setting. Its heart lie in an 11th-century cathedral and the Villa Rufolo (included visit and entrance fees), the latter one of two villas for which the town is famous. Built in the 13th century, the villa’s guests have included Popes and Kings, as well as Richard Wagner, Who composed part of his opera Parsiefal her in 1880. Rest of the day is at your leisure. Cinque Terre. You will admire the breathtaking scenery of the Ligurian Coast, rightfully nominated UNESCO World Heritage Site. These enchanting five villages are nestled into the cliffs overlooking the sea, surrounded by vineyards, producing some of Ligura’s most celebrated wines. Arrive by bus to La Spezia and start your boat excursion that will take you to Rio Maggiore and Monterosso, the largest village of the Cinque Terre and the only one with the beach. Stop in Vernazza, the pearl of Cinque Terre, for included lunch. Free time to enjoy this Paradise on Earth and return by train to La Spezia. Transfer by bus back to your hotel.
