We recently completed a very successful three week Parents as Reading Partners Program (PARP) here
at Bolivar Road Elementary. I hope you were able to be in the building to see the hallways decorated around our “ObSeussed with Reading” theme. Dr. Seuss characters were everywhere. Several events throughout the
run of PARP reminded students of the joys of reading. They were treated to a presentation by Beauty and the
Beast Storytellers. It was great to see so many families here to enjoy the performance of The Bubble Man
and participate in the Seuss related activities around the building. It was an amazing event!
Parents often ask how they can be supportive of their children’s achievements in school. I always begin my answer with
“Read with your child every day.” If you show your child that reading is important to you, it will be important to them as
well. As you read together, ask questions about the story, praise your child’s answers and efforts, and share personal
experiences that relate to the story. Most importantly, enjoy this special time spent together.
STEM Night at Bolivar Road Elementary
Come to Bolivar Road on Thursday, March 9 from 6-7:30 p.m. for the PTA sponsored Family STEM Night. Students and their families will have the opportunity to explore and interact with science, technology, engineering, and mathematical concepts and activities. Many groups will be here highlighting these concepts.
Also available on STEM Night will be Operation SAFE Child. Operation SAFE Child provides picture ID’s for kids and uploads pictures and fingerprints into a national database. We hope to see you here!

Physicals will be done on March 10 by our school doctor. If your child has had a physical or has a scheduled appointment for this school year, please send the completed physical form to me as soon as possible. If your child has not had the required physical and you would like to have the exam done by our school physician, please call me at 315-687-2886 before March 10.
