Once upon a time… LA RADICE BELLA “L’è la raiz…..la raiz bouna: una bela scola”. This dialectal expression was used to be said by an old collegue and it means: « It’s the good root that creates a good school» He explains his words: “ This school is a laboratory where teachers and students work together and use their intellects to face and solve real problems in a creative way. The study is always joined to life from wich it takes nourishment. Culture can be done always from mutual exchange between people: it’s the quality of meetings that makes the value of relatonships.”. Tutto questo al Vallauri c’è stato c’è e ci sarà: un sapere antico, sempre nuovo, ben radicato. Yesterday Vocational school “Giancarlo Vallauri” was founded on 22 June 1960 when President of Italy Gronchi approved it by law and has beeen operative since the 1stOctober of the same year. Our institute is dedicated to ing. Giancarlo Vallauri (1882-1957), who was both a researcher and a teacher, and contributed to spread science and technical knowledge in Italy. The first classes activated were three: mechanical, electrical and textile; in the Seventies it was added the electronic one. .

Every year our school organizes several courses about ICT, English, Health, Safety and specific courses concerning technical subjects. A particular attention in our training is dedicated to students with special needs: teachers attend specific courses organized by the CTI (Territorial Center for Inclusion of students with handicap and special needs) which is managed by our school for area of Carpi.

Learning by doing Teaching in workshops and labs is fundamental in our school: here students can apply contents learned during classes. We have 9 Labs: 2 sewing labs, 1 drawing studio, 2 ITC labs 1 mechanic lab, 2 electronics labs and 1 innovative lab, that is unique in Emilia Romagna, named LAB.IN.TEC., where students can learn how conditioners, solar panels and radiators work and the techniques to repair them. LAB. IN. TEC. was created thanks to companies of our area and they use it for technical training.

One of the best way to learn is when a friend teaches you, because he /she uses your same language and you don't feel judged by another person. Because of these facts, we trust in peer education: we have a group of students of 3rd and 4rd year who attend specific courses to teach education to affectivity to other students; in addition to this they help to welcome the new students of first years.
