newsletter 2nd september 2011 yesterday saw the annual teachers vs senior students netball game take place as usual the competition was fierce it was a game of two halves and all credit to the teams netball was the winner on the day the result was a convincing 116 win for the teachers fortunately all staff were fit for work again this morning can we build it yes we can after what seems like years of playing `will they won t they with the ministry of education our board of trustees received confirmation last week that we are indeed going to be funded to build at least one new teaching space this is fantastic news especially as the ministry has effectively frozen all property spending in the wake of the february earthquake thankfully they can see our need for additional space although nothing will happen as quickly as i would like what this does mean is that our bot and teachers can start planning the type of space we believe will best suit modern teaching and learning styles our first step is to get out and about and look at other new buildings the time frame for building has not yet been determined and the postearthquake building scene is constantly changing but i would sincerely hope that we could be using a new space by the end of next year cantamaths competition last wednesday our senior team of oliver philippa emily and hayden took part in the annual cantamath competition at the asb arena this is always a very full on event with teams racing the clock to answer 20 questions not just any questions the problems they are presented with require the use of a number of mathematical processes here are two of the questions the team were faced with have a go if you dare · rugby world cup badges are packed into either small boxes which hold 4 badges or large boxes which hold 7 badges during one particular week a total of 405 badges were packed the number of small boxes used that week was double the number of large boxes used how many boxes in total were used to pack the 405 badges brayden s age is the square of a prime number that is less than 10 his cousin brenda is 13 years younger than brayden and her age is the product of the digits of his age the son s age is the sum of the digits of her age how old is brenda s son · congratulations to our team and thanks also to our reserves hannah d and mollie policy review this term we review our students with special needs 1 policy on 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 visit the website http springston.schooldocs.co.nz 1893.htm enter the user name springston and password pathways follow the link to the students with special needs policy read the policy click the policy review button at the right hand top corner of the page select the reviewer type parent enter your name optional submit your ratings and comments if you don t have internet access we can easily provide you with printed copies of the policy and the review form icas science exam results
