The Wrong Lane The Wrong Lane is a short film written by Roy and Mary Myers Garton and directed by Roy Garton. The film deals with two couples and a young woman brought together by an outside force to which they all must confront a dark secret which two the attending parties have kept hidden. Can going down the wrong lane make things right? Back story The Wrong Lane while fictional deals with a real life tragedy that faces thousands of people every year. The film is based on actual events dealt with by co-writer Mary Myers-Garton with her two adoptive children. Cast and Crew The film was produced by Brevard Film and Talent, a US 501C3 not for profit group in Melbourne, Florida, USA. It was directed by Roy Lewis Garton and Stars, Arwen Patterson as Sophie, Roy Lewis Garton as Phillip Andrews, Kimm Marie as Stephanie Pierce, Elizabeth Corbett as Melissa Andrews and new actors, Chris Kisel as Todd Pierce and Devante Wilson as the Mediator. Director of Photography was John Granger Original music was scored by Rick Balentine of Score LA for the short film. Quotes “We were so thrilled to have such a great cast and crew for this film.” Garton stated. “While entertaining, we hope this film sheds the much needed light on the plight of young people looking for or even having information withheld from them on knowing their birth parents.” “We were so touched to have the amazing talents of Rick Balentine of Score LA to do our music for our film.” It turned out so amazing!” Mary and Roy Garton stated. Factoids The Wrong Lane was actually shot in two days…Kim Marie is a former smoker and only lit up when the cameras were rolling and immediately put out the cigarettes when cut was yelled. Exclusive for her short takes. Mary Myers-Garton is actually allergic to cigarette smoke and had to leave the set when she lit up for the scenes. Mary served as assistant director besides being co-writer. Orlando actress Elizabeth Corbett joined the cast after an amazing performance in “Know The Signs” which dealt with spousal abuse. She loved this script and came on board immediately. She last worked with Roy Garton as a new actress several years ago on another short film about a Turtle. The Wrong Lane runs 17 minutes and 3 seconds. Devante Wilson’ voice was digitally looped due to real voice being so soft spoken. He really is a nice quiet guy in real life. The City of West Melbourne loved the script and provided their services free of charge for street and security due to nature of the story and the not for profit status of the film organization producing the film. Mr. Garton besides directing is a seasoned actor in films and television. Saige Walker azine I was very lucky to be able to interview up and coming Television Personality and Singing Sensation Saige Walker! He is a Television Writer, and Creator/Producer, working with Bright Frontier Films! His TV Series is currently being pitched to major television outlets nationally. The show is called ‘The Adventures of Velvet Prozak’. It’s a half hour Comedy series based on the life and times of Nerdy Bartholomew Fogglehorn who is ambitiously pursuing fame and fortune! The show is about his hilarious misadventures. Here is what Saige has to say: 1st C lcasvs Q&A Saige, you have an undeniable quest for life, and have accomplished many great things, with more to come. Can you tell us all about an experience from your past that has shaped who you are as a person today? “I shouldn’t be alive to talk to you right now. When I was fifteen I had a near death experience that immediately changed me and was a part of what made me who I am today. I was shot in the face with a double barrel sawed off shotgun from ten feet away. Without putting energy on the details, the police and detectives thought it was attempted murder by another kid. I remember sitting on the couch in my “friend’s” living room and seeing him out of the corner of my eye raised the shotgun, aimed at me. He said, “Hey” I knew when I acknowledged him I had to be ready to move and a voice spoke to me and said you are going to die. When I turned to face him I immediately leaned back shouting “NO!” A flame came out of the barrel and in matrix style the bullet I could hear slow motion coming towards me as it got closer and closer. It struck me in the corner of my mouth and embedded in a wall behind me. I didn’t know if I was dead or alive but I wasn’t here on the Earth any more. I did make a deal to come back here and immediately I awoke with the friend over me flipping out. Later detectives told me they found fresh blood on the end of the barrel of the gun, which indicated I had been poked and it was, attempted murder. The medics and police couldn’t believe that I was alive. I suffered Exclusive a fatal head injury from a shotgun and the bullet had grazed me. Everyone said I was alive to do something great in this world and after I walked out to the ambulance and was driven to the hospital where I was rushed in to ER and by fate a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon that was golfing friends with Arnold Schwarzenegger took my case on the spot. I have a little scar in the corner of my mouth now but that’s all. When I was in my parents’ bed recovering my friend called after hearing the news and who I was suppose to take to a school dance. I told her I wouldn’t be able to go as I had hundreds of stitches in my face and I was very hung up. Then 14

p. 15

by Gail Carson a voice spoke to me and said what are you doing? You have a second chance to live so live!! I honestly thought I’d never act, sing or do anything with my talents. Little did I know at the time it would be one year later I’d be living in LA, starring in a film with Christine Taylor and represented by a big talent agency and manager. I called her back and said, “okay, I’m going to go”. I went with a surgical mask over my face, took our dance pictures and all of it. It was then I realized how short life is and how fast it’s gone. We only have the now to live not tomorrow or yesterday but now. I also realized we only have opportunity now and if you don’t seize the moment when it’s yours then it will pass you by. I’m forever remembering today that if I don’t take action now and make things happen this second I may not have another second to do what it is I have to do. Living that experience is what Kanye West and I connected on as he too faced near death in an auto accident before his rise to fame and he became a close mentor of mine for many years as I watched him every day, up close, making his success. We only have this second and nothing else exists.” Thank you for talking to us about your terrible experience and the journey to rise above your situation, and to make yourself into the success you are today. Here you are today as a writer and producer of a half hour comedy TV series, and a hit songwriter with many wonderful songs to your name! Let’s continue with learning more about your TV Series. Can you tell us about your TV Series ‘The Adventures of Velvet Prozak’? “‘The Adventures of Velvet Prozak’, is a half hour comedy with Andy Milonakis. I created and wrote the series and play Bartholomew Fogglehorn who’s a nerd in pursuit of fame and fortune and anything that can go wrong goes way wrong! It has a terrific cast and it’s tons of fun.” What films have you been in? “My very first audition I was cast as lead in the film, “To The Ends of Time” with Christine Taylor. I walked on set and just knew this role is mine. I got cast on “Sliders” and the Aaron Spelling soap “Sunset Beach” and some independent films but I’d rather switch focus and talk about what I’m currently working on and put my energy there. I will say for years I’ve been up for every major film and TV series and down to the 2nd or 3rd choice but there are a million reasons that actors have no control over as to why they don’t get cast. So I pushed myself to focus on what I can control and and have power over that’s why I became a writer, creator and producer. I’m happy to say Velvet Prozak is getting into some amazing hands for distribution and now it’s just a matter of time until it’s out there. Very excited working with David Armstrong (Bright Frontier Films) on many other projects in the pipeline. On the music front, I’m working on my next Saige Walker project with the amazing producer, Chris Johnson and I know with this next music and videos coming out we will change the game in many ways. My single, No. 1 Fan is out on iTunes, Google Plus etc. It first blew up on CBS radio in San Francisco with DJ LP at 99.7 Now! In rotation for sixteen weeks as the request poured in. The music video for No. 1 Fan drops this New Year’s Eve, 2017! It will be on my Saige Walker YouTube channel.” Where were you formally trained for acting? “I did school theatre, community theatre and when I came to Hollywood I studied with world famous coaches, including Ivanna Chubbuck, Cameron Thor, Janet Alhante and Iris Klein.” What is your favorite TV program? “I love so many; I’m currently into Outcast.” Not only are you an actor/ producer, you also are an amazing singer/songwriter. “Yes, I love writing music. I’ve written hits for Disney artists, other acts and for myself. I think the biggest hit I’ve had, “Calling All Freaks”, got me a deal with Madonna’s Maverick Records, and a 1600 radio station tour with Rick Dees. At the time it was KIIS FM 102.7 here in LA. That interview can be heard on my Youtube channel as well.” How did you get involved in the music industry? “I started when I was a kid by being booked all over Florida every weekend as a Michael Jackson impersonator for events and opening concerts That lasted for 3 years and my parents took me everywhere and managed me. My father supported me to record and write as a recording artist in a local studio in Florida after school every day so I could learn and grow into a real musician and songwriter. Looking back honestly I probably wouldn’t be alive if my dad had of made different choices for my career and life.” Who is your favourite artist? “I love classic MJ, Prince, George Michael, today artist Kanye West, Pharrell, Thicke, Jamiroquai.” 15
