ARTISTS XMAS 2016OPEN 56HOUSES VENUES Visiting the Artists Open Houses Christmas Festival is a great way to take the strain out of Christmas shopping and this Christmas the AOH Festival is bigger and better than ever. Spreading to the furthest reaches of Brighton and Hove and out to the South Downs village of Ditchling, a visit to the Artists Open Houses is the perfect way to kick off the festive season. Throughout the city, artists open up their homes and studios, welcoming you inside. The wealth of established and professional artists and makers, as well as new and emerging artists, offers the perfect opportunity to pick up a unique and original Christmas gift for friends, family - or for yourself! This year brings work from some of the country’s top makers in the fields of ceramics, jewellery, print-making and home-wares, as well as handcrafted Christmas cards, wreaths, tree decorations and foodie gifts. Taking a break from the High Street, you can shop in warmth and comfort, sip a glass of mulled wine and try a mince pie, beside a blazing hearth. Christmas Artists Open Houses create a special atmosphere, where you can chat to the artists and have a sneaky peak around some of Brighton’s most interesting homes, whilst viewing an amazing selection of individual, unique arts and crafts. Don’t forget to visit: where you can find out more about the Artists Open Houses. You will also find links to many of the artists’ and makers’ own websites. Opening times Be sure to check opening times of all Open Houses in their individual listings. Although the most popular opening times are between 11am and 6pm, Saturdays and Sundays, some venues’ opening times and days may differ. Paying for Purchases Most Open Houses are able to take card payments – but remember to check in the brochure for payment symbols in each venue listing, and perhaps take a cheque book and/or cash to be on the safe side!
