22nd july 2011 term 3 week 1 bo am bee phone 6653 1107 e-mail boambee-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au bu lleti n fax 6658 2543 bps online www.boambee-p.schools.nsw.edu.au whole school excursions next week every student in the school will have the experience of learning in an outdoor classroom bongil bongil national park these excursions have been organised as a stimulus for learning across the school about our local environment and indigenous people of the gumbayngirr nation at bongil bongil students will work with teachers from cascade environmental centre and national parks aboriginal educators please ensure your child has their school hat jumper walking shoes a rain jacket hopefully this will not be needed and a water bottle we also ask that morning tea and lunches are prepared in wraps that can be recycled or in containers our aim is to leave only our footprints by bringing a no waste lunch we all look forward to great days of learning toormina district athletics carnival `achievement through effort a proud member of the bongil bongil community of schools dear parents and caregivers welcome to term 3 what an exciting few weeks we have ahead of us with numerous sporting days excursions and special events attached is a term 3 calendar to help you plan time to share in your child s learning experiences please note that there may be a couple of date changes from those that were advertised earlier last term with the persistent wet weather last term many of the sporting events needed to be postponed and transferred into term 3 which has created an incredibly busy start to the term we look forward to working together and continued positive partnerships with parents and the community to enhance educational opportunities for our students permission notes there will be many permission notes coming home over the next few weeks especially for stage 2 and 3 students we are trying to keep excursion and special event costs down by heavily sponsoring the bus costs from school funds it is important that all children have equal opportunities and no child should miss an excursion or sporting experience because of cost please do not hesitate to contact the school if finances are tight so that we can assist through student assistance scheme or through a payment plan it is essential that students return permission notes by the due date to assist with school planning it makes organisation difficult when teachers are chasing permission notes on the morning of an excursion the no note no go policy will be followed this term and teachers and office staff will not be ringing parents the morning of an excursion to get verbal permission it is important to understand that the permission note is essential but no child will be excluded from an excursion because of non-payment if contact has been made with the office prior to the event we encourage you to put the term 3 calendar in a prominent place to help you and your children plan ahead during the term go kate our thoughts and best wishes are with kate murray in year 3 who is competing in the pssa cross country championship in sydney today whatever the result we know kate will give the race her very best effort to make it to this elite level is a tremendous effort please note the change of date:thursday 28th of july permission notes have gone home to students involved in the toormina district athletics carnival next week students who finished1st 2nd or 3rd in events at our school carnival have qualified for district level mrs bale and mrs ferguson will be the supervising teachers on the day notes must be returned by wednesday the 27th july education week theme creating the future week three of this term is education week for all public schools in nsw to celebrate education week the bongil bongil community of schools has prepared a surprise performance to be presented at centro shopping centre toormina at 9.30am on wednesday 3rd of august a school singing group coordinated by mr singh will follow at 9.45am on thursday 4th of august celebrations will be school based with an assembly at 9.30am followed by the official opening of the administration building following the assembly the school cross country will begin at 11.00am ­ see program next page during the morning the canteen will be open for lunch we look forward to parents joining us for lunch and supporting the cross country races.
