hsa nomination time is here the nomination process for the 2010 2012 executive committee is upon us each family can nominate a person of their choice from our school community for each executive office president the president presides at and administers all regular executive and special meetings serves as an de-facto member on all committees and works closely and directly with the pastor principal and staff to keep lines of communication open make recommendations and addresses issues of importance or urgency vice president the vice president assumes the duties of the president if he/she is not available performs duties as assigned by the president and assumes the role of morale officer sending sympathy get well and congratulatory cards/gifts as necessary secretary the secretary records and distributes minutes of all executive and general meetings conducts the correspondence of the hsa maintains a file of reports and records records and corrects any amended hsa bylaws and serves as an ex-officio member of the communications committee treasurer the treasurer maintains a sheet of revenues and expenses and copies of all fundraising reports that are submitted to the rectory makes a semiannual report to the general membership sells and collects all money for the 50/50 raffles at all meetings and serves as an ex-officio member of the fundraising committee watch for the ballots to be coming home soon elections will take place in april second trimester report cards will soon be going home where has the year gone the school community has been very busy with the science fair catholic school week the father daughter dance winter vacation honoring father wilson and the mother son event since our last newsletter as i look ahead to the end of the year there is so much to do i do not know how we are going to fit everything in before the end of the year hold on to your hats because there is a lot to do i m proud that st rose will now be able to offer volleyball to our students a big thank you mr johnson for volunteering to coach reading week is just around the corner along with the a production of beauty the beast election of hsa officers for th th th the 2010/2012 term 8 month club dinner 7 8 grade trip to pennsylvania class field trips the walk-a-thon the golf th th tournament family fun night 8 grade awards night and 8 grade graduation whew i am sure i missed something we will be sure to keep you informed for each upcoming event we are in for a busy end of the year i know we will have fun and enjoy our time together catholic school week ­ what a great week for our students faculty and our families the students enjoyed a dress down day crazy sock/tie day bingo special treats and a movie our faculty enjoyed a specially prepared luncheon th while the 8 graders covered their classes tokens of appreciation were enjoyed by all thank you to our st rose community for making our school such a wonderful place to be it does pay dividends for life father daughter dance on th february 6 the st rose gymnasium was turned into a beautiful winter wonderland for the annual father daughter dance the fabulous fun filled night included dinner provided by dave s bar grille dancing games and a craft it was a beautiful night for our st rose girls thank you to michelle torti for planning and running the event also thank you to each of the committee members without their hardwork and dedication the night would not have been possible jessica scott johnson elissa goulin chris matt fitzgerald lynn desousa yolanda appollonio norma malachowski jill senerchia lynn gannon diane clift donna gayer annie mccarthy and patty besse.

march 2010 the rose th page 2 science fair ­ the 7 and 8 grade students participated in the st rose th science fair on thursday february 4 the children developed and worked on their projects as individuals or teams with adult sponsors over a period of six weeks th save the date saturday may 22nd 2010 segregansett country club 1:30 shotgun you don t have to be a good golfer round up some family and friends and have some fun or join us just for dinner and have some fun the cost for golfers is $100 each this cost includes greens fees cart and a delicious sit down steak dinner non-golfers please join the fun after the golf for a sit down steak dinner $35 a person a silent auction will be held following the outing although it may seem to be months away we need your help now not only do we need golfers to make our outing a success we need tee sponsors donations and prizes we are looking for donations of golf items wine gourmet foods for our baskets brochures will be available by the end of march please contact lisa williams if you have any questions lisa williams 595-6714 strosegolf@gmail.com the experiments were displayed at the school during the fair for the students show off all their hard work and answer questions from the viewing public each experiment was also judged to determine three representatives from each class to represent st rose at the amgen rhode island science engineering fair thank you to middle school teachers for organizing the event the students who will represent st rose at the state science fair are grade 8 brenden wildenhain dan mason and john michalczyk grade 7 brennan bica patrick flanagan and anthony silvio th th the state science fair will be march 27 and 28 at ccri th warwick the projects will be judged on march 27 the fair th will be open to the public march 28 from 12 3pm at ccri warwick and the awards ceremony will be on wednesday st march 31 good luck at the state fair calling all st rose alumni are you or do you know someone who graduated from st rose if you graduated from st rose or know someone who did complete the contact information within the alumni section of the st rose website and join the st rose alumni facebook page we are so excited to keep in touch with our alumni and find all the amazing things they are doing st rose of lima school is on facebook become a fan today find out details about upcoming events see pictures and chat with other fans of our page when we hit 300 fans the kids will be awarded a dress down day join today record setting bake sale thank you to all of our st rose bakers out there who sent in tasty sweet and healthy treats for our year of the priest bake sale thank you to lori lepizzera for taking the lead and coordinating the bakers and volunteers we set a bake sale record in treats and in money raised great job on march 6th the st rose gym went back in time to the 1950 s where the records were playing and the kids were dancing moms and their boys danced the twist the stroll and the handjive rootbeer floats were enjoyed by all thank you to cheryl picard for chairing the event and the committee members amy randall beth white kara buchanan christine walaska deb drechnowez diana otero jill kazanjian kim tweddle kristen mercier lori lepizzera michelle noon yolanda appollonio and kim pike a special thank you to the dads who worked the event so the moms and sons could enjoy their afternoon march 14 2pm march 15 ­ 19 march 17 march 19 march 22 march 23 march 26 th th th th first penance reading week reports cards st patrick s day st joseph s day no school professional day th nd rd th 7pm first communion parent meeting living stations of the cross sts rose clements parish march 27 28 march 28 th th th state science fair at ccri warwick palm sunday
