will be to try and fill bertha s shoes i decided to volunteer to be the class correspondent if any one of you would really like to do this step up my feelings will not be hurt i m sure that we all agree on how much bertha is missed she was the glue that held the class of 1941 together all these many years following the alumni day luncheon in june 2006 when we roland routhier 2 severance st derry nh 03038 603 432-2032 rout2@comcast.net here we go again starting another new year and it seems that all the news i have to report for our class is bad news our classmate flora pickering burdette passed away on january 11 2007 at the concord regional visiting nurse association hospice house after a long illness i hadn t received an email from flora for quite some time and wondered how she was doing so it came as a shock when i read this news flora was very active with her church group and did a lot of volunteer work for her community her last trip to derry was for our 60th class reunion and in one her emails she later told me how much she enjoyed seeing her classmates and reminiscing our condolences go out to her family and we will miss her i ve lost count of how many of our classmates are no longer with us so maybe if one of you is keeping track please refresh my memory i still hear from bill stewart from time to time and he inquires about the well-being of you guys i don t have much to tell him as i seldom hear from any of you how come now on a much nicer note this winter is fast fading and it s been great lorraine and i decided during the summer that we were not going south this winter so the weatherman decided to take it easy on us it s the first time in about 30 years that we haven t gone south but we found it nice staying in town i still keep busy with my job as supervisor of the checklist and you can find me at the town hall stop by to say hi and see your `tax dollars at work on march 29 lorraine and i attended a musical `guys and dolls presented by the pinkerton players at the stockbridge theater we were really impressed at the professional way the students performed in this wonderful presentation it made us both proud to be part of the pinkerton family we try to see as many of the shows as we can and have enjoyed all we have seen on a humorous note while at this show we sat beside two young ladies and we conversed while waiting for the show to begin in our conversation i asked what class they were in smiling they replied they were both teachers at pinkerton and had graduated from there a few years earlier i was slightly embarrassed but then i thought at my age anyone under 50 looks a lot younger to me and besides i m allowed these slight miscalculations right each time we attend a function at pinkerton we marvel at the many changes that have occurred in the few years since we graduated and how mature and well-mannered the young people act next year 2008 will be the 65th anniversary of our graduation i m not planning a reunion but it does fall on the year of the pinkerton biennial reunion if any of you plan on attending this affair the reservation form is usually in the alumnus so watch for it make your reservation with the school and send them the check they will arrange for our class seating together if there is alumnus spring 2007

say the same it really shook me up she enjoyed a luncheon given by her bridge friends her granddaughter and husband joe took her to hawaii in february of 2006 it took her two weeks to recover her biggest complaint is she doesn t have energy or as much as she d like to have she almost gave up golfing she manages to keep busy with bridge mah jong and some volunteer work at her church and daily walks she went to hershey pa for christ mas 2006 went to georgia to lake lanier and calloway gardens near atlanta and a while ago she went to a church bus trip i say glenna no wonder you say you lack energy you certainly go and enjoy your life ruth severance devine says she was 80 march 19 2006 she finds it hard to believe she is now in her 80 s she tells me that john and she will be married for 63 years and they said it wouldn t last john falls often and has to use a cane and walker and doesn t like it a bit he s pleasantly stubborn and doesn t want to think about using a wheelchair he s 89 and no longer drives their son james lives near them and takes them for appointments or whereever they wish to go ruth s arthritis bothers her a lot but seems the only major health problem when she heard that we had our first snowstorm she could remember snowstorms but glad they haven t any had lunch with bernice martel becker a few weeks ago she calls me about once a month and we go out to
