room 37 tahatai coast school term 1 2010 we have had an exciting start to 2010 with beach education and a rocky shore trip we have settled into our class on the field and are enjoying making new friends and learning new skills beach education during week 2 we went to beach education this day gave us an opportunity to learn how to keep ourselves safe in the water and on the beach we met the life guards and they were our instructors for the day their names were brooke luke and kate at beach ed we played seaweed flags and after lunch we did boogie boarding this was an awesome day and we all really enjoyed it tauaiti renee jack ch and niamh tahatai fred meet tahatai fred he is one of our connections between school and home he can enjoy our after school and weekend activities we have to keep him safe and dry we then create a caption to go with our photo and put it up on our wiki page tahatai fred is a small magnet frog even though he is small it is still lots of fun to play with him you can take him anywhere jake he went riding on snake boards with my friend and i we had great fun climbing trees torben tahatai fred has been to cubs and made new friends he had great fun tom

the amazing rocky shore trip team 6 went on a rocky shore trip on mauau the purpose of this trip was to see what wild marine life live in the rock pools the main creatures that we saw were crabs chiton hermit crabs shrimp black narita sea anemone barnacle cushion stars starfish and cockabully we had parents helping us collect data that we used to create graphs siua learnt that there are sea creatures that clean the rock pools.paige learnt that to see the creatures you have to be quiet becky learnt that there are lots of baby sea creatures every one had a great time at the rocky shore paige becky and siua mrs w we will now be looking at what groups of people use this environment and identifying the positive and negatives effects of those interactions thank you our parent supporters hatchet by gary paulsen we are reading a very exciting book about a boy who was flying to his dads house in northern canada the pilot had a heart attack the plane crashed and now he is learning to make choices to make sure he survives mrs w is reading it to us and we have keynote activities to complete the tasks are on our wiki corey dante and laura.

l o o k at u s notes from mrs warrilow thank you to all the parents who have called in or made appointments to talk to me feel free to do this at any time i think we have the emails sorted out and i will be forwarding newsletters as soon as i receive them from the office beginning today and for the following two weeks we will be doing cycling and running training for our duathlon on thursday afternoons helmets and sneakers are compulsory bikes will be locked in the courts by the senior playground week 9 the last week of school this term is going to be a busy one the duathlon is on tuesday 30th march if you have not joined us on a trip this term then pencil in wednesday 31 march for a great bus trip to the tauranga art gallery followed by lunch in the rose gardens no costs involved we will be participating in life ed during weeks one and two next term homefun whats news and spelling are being done regularly great work everyone let me know if you have any concerns issues or celebrations.
