Travel Tips VISAS In general, New Zealand Passport holders will be issued a 90 day tourist visa upon arrival in Japan. In most cases obtaining a visa prior to departure is not required. Japan Rail Passes JPY(¥)=Japanese Yen. HOW THE PASSES WORK Japan Rail Passes are available to travellers visiting Japan with tourist (temporary visitor) visas. The pass is not available for working, working holiday or student visa holders. Japan has one of the world’s most convenient and efficient railway networks.
